Character
Name: Hix
Fandom: Suikoden
Gender: Male
Age: Nineteen.
Time Period: 460; before joining the army, near the beginning of the Unicorn Test.
Wing Color: Navy blue
History: Gensopedia, Wikipedia, Suikosource.
Personality: For a male from the Warriors' Village, Hix personality doesn't match to what one would think of a person from such a village to be at first impressions. From I to II, Hix has an uncertainty about his abilities (though not as strong as they were in I), that if he would really make a good warrior compared to the rest of those out there. It's this low self-esteem that makes him rather avoidant of getting into any tough or difficult situations, even despite his ability to wield a weapon with experience. He looks more into taking a safer route or one that avoids conflict, not wanting anyone to get into trouble if they don't have to.

While not a complete introvert, Hix is somewhere between being it and an extrovert. He isn't too shy and timid, but he isn't as outspoken or confident in how he speaks like others. He at times speaks at a stutter or with hesitation, and it makes his lack of confidence, even in most of his words, show. Next to his girlfriend, Tengaar, he is easily shadowed by her more lively personality.

When it comes to Tengaar, Hix is a complete and utter doormat to her. Most of the times that he tries to sway her mind (if not everytime) is overruled by what she wants to do, and he ends up following her and what she wants to do. While Hix would rather take the more safe approach, it's Tengaar who is the one that pushes on through for the two of them. And it's not just emotionally that she does it either, even opting to make him do numerous tasks for her.

It is also by her that his strength and determination has shown through in both games. In the first, when Tengaar is taken by the vampire Neclord, he promises to rescue her and follows the rest to the castle to ask to be allowed to follow them in their rescue plan. He doesn't back down if refused, begging and pleading until he's allowed to join. Even his sword not being named (a law in the Warriors' Village to be able to fight) and only being a novice, he fights with the other warriors to keep his promise and to save her. Again he has to save her when she falls "ill", having to go from cave to town to get items that will save her. It's obvious to see that it's a plan by Tengaar and the village chief, but Hix is oblivious to this, even dragging Riou out if he tries to point this out.

This shows that despite all self-doubts, Hix will be able to put any worries and self-complaints aside in order to focus on trying to make things right and get results, especially when it involves Tengaar. It takes a good kick or shove to make him show this stronger side of him, but it'll come out when needed the most.

Concluding it, in basics Hix can come off as a bit of a pushover with not much confidence in his own strength, someone who tries to be a sensible thinker despite never really having things go his way; a man who is able to be courageous and push himself through his goals, though they usually involve thinking about his girlfriend one way or another. ... And mentioning that, also a lousy romantic, oblivious to most attempts set by Tengaar.

Strengths: Being a male from the Warriors' Villages means learning how to be, well, a warrior. He's likely been trained to become a warrior as he's on a journey to be recgonised as a man, and also by the fact that he wields a weapon. He's an average fighter, having good enough speed for a short-ranged sword user, and he's built half-decently body wise. He isn't macho, but he's got some muscles underneath his baggy clothing.

From what's seen and said in the second game, it could be assumed that Hix has a good endurance for putting up with tasks given to him. From being made to carry most of the heavy stuff by Tengaar in their travels (who doesn't get why he would be tired) to having to catch fish for her every single day, he's probably had to put up with a lot of stuff from her.

His worrying is just another way of saying that he likes to be careful, especially when it either has to do with his skill or with Tengaar, so he isn't likely one to rush into anything unless for a good reason (once to save his girlfriend from a vampire and another rushing around to save her from a Unicorn curse, but even then, it wasn't exactly rushed).

Weaknesses: Hix has his self-doubts. He doesn't have as strong of a backbone like many people, but he isn't too timid. Still, he doesn't like to put either himself or another person in any likely dangerous situations, which is seen when the game hero, Riou, overhears the two speaking about making Hix become a man ("But Tengaar, you're talking about intentionally putting ourselves in danger...").

When it comes to Tengaar's wellbeing, he isn't a person who will be able to keep too calm to keeping her safe. He's reliant on her on deep down, in that he would worry about her if she was or wasn't around. It's also because of her that he's come as far as he has, and that she's the one that helps push himself instead of giving up. This can be seen in II in the Unicorn test, where he says to her that they should just head back and forget the whole test. It's by her planning that he goes through with the whole thing (or will). It's obvious to tell how much he cares about her by just looking to the name of his sword. In the tradition of the  Warrior's Village, the sword is named after the one most important of all to the owner, and his? 'Tengaar'.

As a fighter he's decent, but he isn't anything special. He doesn't have much of a magical ability, his stats are levelled and alright but don't stand out compared to some of the other fighters, and a unite attack that he has with Tengaar, while giving double damage, actually ends up hurting him. Most of his self-doubts also come down to his ability as a warrior, which even after finishing the test to prove himself, he still questions  his ability ("I don't think I'm cut out to be a warrior").

First Person: Question and answer selection, please!

Third Person: There were only a few moments after he woke up that Hix didn't go into a panic, but finding himself in a forest with only a pair of cotton slacks on and then the inevitable realisation of the wings on his back wouldn't delay it for too long.
It had to be in the Kobold village forest he was in, right? It was the only explanation Hix could come up with that didn't rely on thinking too hard about the wings on his back. Well, it couldn't be that, r-right? They were a strange blue colour, not white, so it couldn't be he was... That he was...

So maybe he did think about it too hard. He couldn't stop himself as he tried to search around where he had woken up, only finding his clothes dropped next to a bush after circling around the tree he had been propped up against five times. He took them and found a spot to hurriedly change behind, feeling more comfortable slipping into his trousers and shirt. ... The latter not fitting with the wings, try as he did until he remembered about them.

But it was just when he was putting on a boot, hopping on the spot to get it pulled up, that the last events came to him. He had just came back from getting the blue stone needed for the Unicorn test from the item store in South Window, and then... Then --

"Wait... Tengaar!" An answer then dawned on him, though likely at the wrong time. He head shot up and his back arched forward, and quickly enough he lost his balance and tumbled backwards. Luckily enough he was able to roll onto his side, but still a wing caught onto the ground and he responded to the pain, flinching with a groan.

There was no time to worry about the wings, though. If he had done something wrong, what did that mean for Tengaar? He grabbed hold of his shirt from the ground, and he felt the corner of something beneath it that came up with him. Flipping his hand, he saw it was a book, but it didn't enter far enough into his mind to be a concern. Shoving the rest of his foot into the boot, he started walk on, calling out as he did. "Tengaar!? Can you hear me!?"
