Yeah, I have thought about it!
The Omega Chronicles
It has been 17 days since we received the first notification via TV and radio about the Omega Virus. Nobody calls it that anymore. Those infected become flesh eating zombies just like in every movie you have ever seen about them. What is not like the movies is that they all do not move slow. Those infected maintain most of their physical prowess they had prior to infection. The easiest kills are the fat, out of shape couch potatoes, pray for them because the most dangerous are the athletes, soldiers, those with the advantage of youth...well you get the picture.
The first time we encountered one of the latter, we thanked God we live in the south where statistically prior to the Omega Virus, boasted the fattest, most out of shape people in the states!
As in the movies, they seem to have sensitivity to light. They are much more active at night. A shot to the head is a kill shot. Fire works fine but it is slow. Removal of the head also works just fine but it is hell on a manicure. I broke 3 nails the first time!! You also stand the chance of becoming infected yourself. Decapitation is up close, personal and really messy. Any flying zombie blood or gore that gets in your eyes, mouth or open cut....well, just save your family the horror and put a bullet in your head. This is all we have learned thus in regards to dispatching the infected.
We are thankfully very isolated here in Lake Cormorant, Mississippi. Our street is a dead end and had a total of 14 families. 8 of the families took off a week ago thinking they stood a better chance with their families in Memphis despite our protests. We had to close in our perimeters when they left as we are down the numbers needed to maintain the borders we had set up. Currently, we still have electricity but we are all aware it is just a matter of time.
We just had a group meeting and we all decided at first light to set out for Hernando. It is the closest town of a good size. Going into Memphis is the very last resort. The caravan will be comprised of 8vehicles with towing capability all towing trailers. We have 6 16fit flatbeds and 2 15ft enclosed trailers. We need supplies to ensure our survival. We intend to rob all 6 pharmacies in Hernando. I do not have a thyroid you see and will die in 7-10 days without synthetic thyroid meds. We also plan to stock up on antibiotics and anything else we deem necessary for long term survival. Thankfully, we have a nurse in the group, so she will be with us. The remaining group members will hit Lowe’s, Home Depot and Walmart. That’s what the trailers are for. My father the ex-marine will be leading his group, looking for chain link fence partitions to strengthen our borders along with tools, can foods, weapons and anything we can scavenge...even if it involves fighting non infected. We will not steal from compounds but the stores will be war zones. This is all about survival folks and we intend to survive.
If you do not hear back from me, we obviously did not survive the trip to Hernando. I pray you will. Pray for us and I will pray that it is not you that stands between us and the things we need to survive. Until the next time................
