Calling all Medivalists

Edward Gauvin has translated the French story we bought for Interfictions 2--and very beautifully, too. The thing is, there's this sentence in medieval French which needs to be translated into Middle English, and neither of us is really up to it. Can anybody out there oblige ( Read more... )

Wow. This looks just right. Part of my problem was that I'm more familiar with Mallory, who is, of course, much later than the French, and all my attempts were hopelessly Mallorean. Which isn't a hanging crime, but you can be sure the SOMEBODY would notice.

Well, that's the problem, isn't it? Apparently, the French is 13th c, court dialect, so the guy who answered right before you put it into a Chaucerian London dialect. Works for me.
