This just in from a Massachusetts friend. It's an email from her State Representative.
Greetings,
You have been in touch with me in the past regarding freedom to marry.
Recently, the legislature has been considering a bill which would repeal the 1913 law which limited the freedom of persons traveling to Massachusetts to marry according to our laws (prohibiting marriages in Massachusetts which would be illegal in the state of residence of the spouses).
I'm pleased to report that the house passed this bill today at 3:38PM. The vote was 118 to 35 in favor (with me among the 118). The bill has already passed the Senate.
I appreciate your support on this issue.
Best regards,
Will B.
Can I just say, it's about time? Now, if New York will just get with the program. . . .
