My current conundrum

Sep 13, 2007 19:08

I graduated in May full of hopes and dreams, and sure that I would find a teaching job by the time school started in August. Summer came and went without even one interview for a teaching job. Instead, I got a job at Elder-Beerman in June as a temporary summer job, just until I found something else. After Comic-Con, I started applying to other jobs (all in the Cbus area), mostly clerical/administrative assistant jobs. At that time I had hoped to find a job and be out of there by the end of August. By the end of August that goal had changed to mid-September, and now it's more the end of September. I'm nearing the time I would need to put my two weeks in for the last goal, and I still don't have a job in the Columbus area.

Don't get me wrong, I like working at Elder-Beerman, but it's down here while Neal's still in Cbus, and it's long hours on my feet in dress shoes, which is not a great combination. Plus there's no opportunity for advancement, because I want a job in Columbus, and my manager knows that. A transfer's not really an option because the closest Elder-Beerman is about an hour away from Neal's apartment.

I have been apprehensive about moving up there without the added security of a job. However, a temp agency, which might end up being one of my best bets if nothing else comes up, said that they wouldn't be able to place me until I move to the area. I have a little bit saved up, so I'd be okay not working for a little while. There are department stores up there, too, and they'll be hiring soon for seasonal positions. Not that I really want to go back to that, but I could if need be. I'd be putting my two weeks in tomorrow or Saturday in order to be out of there by the end of the month. Something's coming, I can feel it. I just don't know when or how soon.

I guess what my question is what do you all think I should do. Just jump in and see what happens, or wait until something solid comes up. What would you do?
