Chronicles of Narnia and other tidbits
Last Saturday I finally got to see the new Narnia film. I guess it opened in Poland a month later than in other European countries because they did not want to compete with Goblet of Fire. Ah, well. At least it did appear. And I got to see it without dubbing - the joys of living in a city! ;)
Anyway, I loved it. That's the first time I left the cinema without gritting my teeth in anger and being totally frustrated with what has been done to the book I love. Very unlike LotR. Of course, there were some changes - I guess to squeeze in more action scenes and more special effects (the escape from the Beavers' house), and some things did not make it into the movie (like for example the giant in the White Witch's house, to whom Lucy gives her handkerchief - that was a sweet scene). But all in all, I am very pleased with the end result. I hope we will see Narnia on the big screen again.
Some other good news - I got results of my English end-of-semester test today. I passed - of course, some will say :) Best in the group. I got 92%, which is a very good result but it might have been better. Yeah, yeah - you know me... Still, to think I was almost not allowed to attend this group! After the entrance test it was suggested to me that maybe I should join the group one level lower. Well... Now I would very much like to see the face of the guy who talked to me then. He had told me that he might allow me to attend level 17 but it did not seem a good idea too him. I needed lots of study to catch up. Hah! I did study of course! Lots and lots... of fanfics :) Seriously though, I have learned most of what I know (of English) by reading, fanfic or otherwise, and watching these silly things on TV, i.e. Star Trek etc. Weird, huh?
And not so good news now. Next semester I intend to join the CPE exam group, and the classes are Monday/Wednesday, 19:15. :( I have my dance class on Monday, 18:30! Not fair! I will have to skip the end of the dance class and be always 15 minutes late to the English class! Again! Bleh... At least I hope I will be able to stay in the dance class... We'll see in February. And now I'm off to reading more fanfic to cheer myself up.
Oh my, I almost had a heart attack! I wanted to post this and got a message "service unavailable" or something. Thought it was all gone but luckily, it's still here. I'll copy it to a file and save, just in case
