title: it gets worse
fandom: the vampire diaries/supernatural
rating: M
warnings: descriptions of torture, rape etc.
summary: vampires automatically go to hell.
Vampires automatically go to hell. It doesn't matter whether they eat humans or bunnies. They can spend five hundred centuries petting homeless kittens. The moment someone sets them on fire or puts a stake through their heart they go straight down the pit. That's the rule. No exceptions.
Katherine Pierce would have gone to hell either way. She wasn't much better as a human and things got even worse with forever hanging over her head. She cheated, lied, lusted and was so filled with pride it hurt peoples eyes. If anyone deserved to be tortured for an eternity it was Katherine.
She always knew she'd get herself killed one day. She certainly wasn't prepared for the way it happened (it was pretty heartless of Stefan Salvatore to stake her right after admitting he loved her) but she knew it would.

Hell isn't just a pit of fire. Hell is everything that had ever been wrong with life.
It starts out in the bedroom. His bedroom. Katherine watches with horror as her former self is pushed against the bed by her father's best friend. She wants to close her eyes, look away, but it is impossible to do so. She is forced to watch as Nicolai undresses Katerina Petrova and forces himself into her. Her arms hang heavy by her sides and they remain there no matter how hard she tries to lift them to cover her ears. Katerina's cries for help fills her ears and she finds herself wondering how come no one heard them that night. Her own screams are ringing in her ears and soon she finds herself joining in.
Katherine begs and pleads to no one. She can't stop the tears even when she realizes they are burning her skin. When Nicolai has finally finished with her young, innocent self Katherine is curled up in a corner, whimpering like a pathetic human being. She could be Elena Gilbert now, she realizes, but not even that repulsing thought gets her to stand up.
Nicolai exits the room and Katherine is left alone with herself. With who she used to be. Somehow Katherine just knows that she won't be able to touch or talk to Katerina. She knows there is nothing she can do but watch the young girl cry herself to sleep.
She can still feel the way Nicolai's hands felt against her body that night. She doesn't know if its one of hells special effects or whether its just one of the things impossible to forget. She sobs into an empty nothing.
Then a voice, she cannot tell where it comes from, whispers in her ear.
"You think thats bad? It gets worse,"
~~~
Katherine has just finished watching her parents get ripped to shreds by Klaus for what must be the hundredth time. It still feels as bad as the first.
The chains holding trembling body still are drenched in vervain. She still screams until it feels like her lungs will explode and continues even after that. Everything hurts and they haven't even gotten started on her yet.
Somehow she can hear the steps echoing around her even though she hasn't stopped screaming. She bites down on her lip to make herself shut up and can soon taste her own blood.
"Katherine Pierce," a strangers voice speaks her name as if he owns it. She almost believes that he does. "The vampire. I used to torture your kind before I even knew what hell was."
Katherine gives him a once over. He's wearing blood on his hands and a matching smirk that makes her think of murders and blood baths. And not the good kind. She tries not to let it show. She won't give him the satisfaction of knowing she's scared to her very bones.
"You're new," it's supposed to sound cold and haughty but only comes out in a weak whisper. "I like you better than the other one. You're ... sexier," she's not quite sure she manages to pull off the seductive vampire role drenched in fear and her skin still burning but she tries.
He doesn't respond but just shakes his head slightly while polishing a sharp knife on his leather jacket. She wants to point out that a knife won't get him far on her but doesn't want to give him any ideas so she stays silent. He seems to know what she's thinking though because all of the sudden he lets the knife drop.
"What would you prefer we start with; stake or fire?" he asks in a voice that actually makes it sound like he wants her honest opinion on the matter.
"Surprise me," she breathes and while she is positively shaking with fear of what is to come she stares him right in the eye. "I like it hard and rough."
Something that looks almost like a smile flashes across his face and for a brief moment Katherine is convinced that he is about to laugh. But its gone as soon as it came and she wonders whether it was really there at all. No one laughs in hell.
"We'll see how you like it when I'm done with you," his words echo around her like a warning and all of the sudden there's a lighter in his hand. A small, simple lighter. The kind people use for cigarettes. Its almost laughable that he can't find something better in hell of all places.
When he flicks the light on and lets it lick every part of her body Katherine forgets the word laughable even exists.
He comes back after that. Every day (or is it every five minutes? She's not sure) he comes back with his tray of torture devices and that despicable smirk. The third time she sees him he tells her his name. The fifth time he lets her know he used to be a hunter. She has a feeling he'd never tell her any of this if it wasn't for the fact that they're stuck down her in the pits of darkness and unquenchable fire.
Right after she's seen herself get staked by Stefan (its even worse when watching from afar - the disappointment and betrayal is so evident in her face) he's there. He's looking through his assortment of stakes and she wonders quietly if he has any idea of the pain he's about to cause her.
While he tortures her he tells her stories. Sometimes they're about the different hunting trips he used to go on. Not as often they're about his brother Sam. Whenever he mentions his little brother she can see the pain beaming in his eyes. She likes to point this out loudly which always causes him to shoot a wooden bullet into her mouth or give her a shot of vervain. Katerine continues to do it though because reminding him that he's human reminds her who she is and where she comes from.
He's got pretty eyes. She focuses on them while he cuts her skin into different patterns and digs deeper and deeper into her skin. When she screams the corners of his lips tug upwards and she doesn't understand how its possible for him to have hunted evil at one point. To her, he's the worst kind of evil there is.
~~~
"You like me better than the rest," she teases him one night (it can't possibly be day, can it?) while he's getting the whip ready. "And I know why."
He doesn't raise his eyes from what he's doing but she can see him clench his jaw. It almost makes her smile. Almost.
"Torturing me makes you feel good doesn't it?" she asks but doesn't expect or wait for an answer. "I'm a vampire. I'm bad. You'd kill me even if we weren't here. It makes you feel like you're not a sick, twisted demon."
He turns around to face her. Katherine raises her chin slightly to challenge him but he doesn't even meet her eyes. Instead he raises the vervain drenched whip and lashes out on her.
Katherine screams along with the whip but it only makes him go harder and faster and soon she's so weak that she can barely whimper. He finally lowers the whip and her blood is splashed across his face and body. Her blood fits him like a glove and its something she's used to seeing by now.
"You're not gonna deny it?" when he doesn't answer her lips twist into something almost like a smile. She thinks its a smile, anyways. She's not quite sure of anything anymore. "Sorry to break the news babe but you're not good. You're as evil as I am and can't even blame it on being a vampire."
He stabs her with his favorite knife, right in the heart, and his face is so close to her that she can count every freckle on his nose. She's too busy gasping for air to do that.
"You don't know anything about me," he spits in her face before pulling the knife out.
This time he doesn't squeeze her hand before leaving like he's done since their fifth time together. He just walks out and she's left feeling emptier than ever.
Dean doesn't come back after that and Katherine spends the rest of eternity burning in hell alone.
