update on my niece

Feb 03, 2006 11:11

yesterday we got home at 10 in the morning, and my parents got ready to go and left again. I stayed because I had class last night. They had taken her off the monitors, her blood sugar was down to 200-something, she had already started getting injected with insulin, and she was finally able to eat. She was up, talking and being her old self again. :) She was going to be released today because of her progress. My parents left Gainesville around 7PM, and when they got home, my sister called to tell them her blood sugar had gone up to 475 again. She called again later and said it was down to 350. They left early this morning, and my mom called me about half an hour ago to tell me that they didn't know anything yet, but that my sister had taken Elena for a walk around the hospital because she was crying a lot from all the injections. According to this, it means she is no longer hooked up to the machines which is definitely still good news. :) Thanks for everyone's concern; it really means a lot to my family, and I'm sure that even though Elena doesn't understand, she would appreciate everything too. :)

Here's Elena at her best. These pics were taken July of 2005...
