^_^
is one of the best night of my life!
Before I tell you about it, I should probably tell you about Return to Hogwarts. (I'm sorry if you're not a Potter fan) RTH is a program run by the Peoria Park District that has been running for the past 6 years. It's a pretty big Harry Potter event (or fest if you want to call it) and volunteers (including actors and builders) help create a Harry Potter world based on each year of the series. This year is the 5th year. I had been a part of it for about 3-4 years and I met a lot of new and old friends there. Every year, we meet up and (especially the veterans, this includes me) become this "RTH family". Anyways, since this year was based on the fifth year of the book, we built sets and acted out scenes for the event
(I'm only giving out a summary since it's long to describe. The details are in my real journal). I played Cho Chang (and became known to my friends as "Emo Cho" xD) again this year. It was a pretty kick-ass night and so far the best of the ones from the past, especially since most of us knew each other and had the thought of RTH all year (heck, we even have a myspace group).RTH this year was held on the night of September 22nd.
Anyways, a bunch of us (the actors) decided to have a meet up/cast party at a place called Camp Wokanda (it's a boy's scout camp. Yay for discounts! ) which is quite a long drive from Peoria and in a weird location because it's in an area surrounded by cornfields, yet there is this huge horizon of hills and forests for the camp site. Anyways, I was only able to have dinner and play with my friends who managed to come (Lemme see....Me, Caitlyn, Heather, Mary, Beth, Todd, C.J, Trevor, Taylor, Gabe, Derek, Ben, and Austin), so I didn't camp with the gang. =(
(Mom and Dad said that they would have let me, if they knew the people who came. Geez, what a convenience. I wasn't the only girl who came and we had three adult chaperones who camped too, and they were all volunteers. Oh well, I'm glad I went in the first place. It was really my first time going to a camp site. If only I got to camp. If I ever do have children, I'm definitely letting them join boy/girl scouts).
My dad and I made fried rice enough to feed a small party, before I went to the site. It took a long time to get there since the directions were difficult. After they dropped me off, I followed my friends to our cabin (which is actually a little nicer than I thought: a large room with 4 military bunkers and a fireplace, and a back room as a kitchen). We hung out by the camp fire, talked, joked around, waited for others, prank called people (okay, that was Gabe and I. He has a kick-ass phone), drank Jones soda....until Derek, Heather, and Todd came, we played capture the flag in the trails. It was hard to play since it got dark, and eventually, my team (the pink team) won by Caitlyn double crossing the yellow team (and we got bored of the game). We came back to our cabin site and so did Mary (who brought extra needed items for the night). We spent the rest of the night at the site, talked some more, made plans for future meet ups, took perverted yet funny pictures of each other, made some more prank calls (now the works of Gabe and C.J), bobbed for apples (my first time. Yes, I know. I'm sorry), ate the fried rice (which pretty much everyone ate and loved ^_^) .....it was all fun and games until I had to leave.
Even though I didn't get to camp with my friends, I'm glad I've got to experience this night, especially with my RTH family. =3
