This is the part that has this fan /squirrel confused

I'm not the most up to date fan of D's out here but huh? Or is the suthor of this article not have all the pieces. I mean either way it ends up (though I bet as movie its a 50/50 chance of straight to DVD which I rather not see even though it worked for ADB).
I just don't get this article.
