I'm starting to think that the whole purpose of Cheney's post administration tour is not so much to be an apologetic for the Bush Administration as is is to just make Bush look like a decent guy in comparison.
That is an astute observation. However may I offer a different theory?
The real Dick Cheney almost died last January and is in a state of cryogenic stasis in a secured and undisclosed location. The Dick Cheney you are seeing now is in fact a robot controlled by Donald Rumsfeld, who is out to disgrace the current administration and recast history's view of the Bush administration.
Supporting Statement #1: The Dick Cheney cyborg was in a wheelchair on the day of Obama's inauguration. The technology to make the cyborg walk had not yet been perfected.
Supporting Statement #2: Only a robot, who has been programmed to do so, could make statements such as "torturing our enemies makes us safer" and "there is no proof humans are causing global warming" in spite of clear evidence to the contrary.
Supporting Statement #3: Rumsfeld was the head of the defense department, which used DARPA to fund the creation of the cyborg.
Supporting Statement #4: There is no proof that Dick Cheney is not a cyborg.
Supporting Statement #5: The real Dick Cheney spend significant amounts of time in underground disclosed locations, giving him plenty of time to come up with this scheme.
Supporting Statement #6: Rumsfeld "resigned" as Secretary of Defense, why? So he could spearhead the Dick Cheney Cyborg program.
