I am seeing this a lot recently and it strikes me as odd and, hypocritical isn't the right word for it, maybe just stupid is the right description. This concerns the election, but isn't directed against one candidate or the other. Some people know who I'm supporting, but it really isn't important to this discussion, what I have is a question. How is it possible to hold the following two beliefs at the same time?
1. I feel like X is the best choice to be my President. I will support him/her with my time, energy, and eventually with my vote.
and
2. No matter who you vote for, everyone should register and vote.
I just don't understand the mental state that can reconcile the two, it seems to me like one is saying that they don't actually care enough about #1 to mind at all if their encouragement of #2 causes their preferred candidate to lose. And the 'if you don't vote you can't complain' crowd is just a bunch of crap too, I've read the 1st amendment a few times and have never noticed a limiter based upon participation in the last election.
If it all the same to you, if you aren't voting for my guy, I'd just prefer you stay home.
