[meme] what i'm reading wednesday ▵ o1

what i'm reading now
↳ maggie stiefvater, the dream thieves
  • i've only just started this (no, really, i'm like three pages into the second chapter), so i don't have too many thoughts. it seems as if it's going to heavily focus on ronan which i'm excited about. i felt like he was probably the least developed of the characters in the book, though he was still distinctly his own. i really want to get in his head and find out more about him, so i hope this book lets me do this. also, i want more chainsaw.

what i just finished reading

↳maggie stiefvater, the raven boys
  • i loved this book. i'd actually started it a couple times, but never got very far just because of distractions and things, but once i actually decided to sit down and read it? i absolutely loved it. it surprised me a lot. i wasn't expecting to like blue or gansey, like, at all, but gansey ended up being my favorite character. and i loved blue as well. i loved everyone really. except neeve and freaking barrington whelk. i really, really, hated barrington whelk. i felt there was something off about noah from the beginning, and to be honest i was expecting him to betray gansey/adam/ronan somehow, so when i found out why he seemed so off, it was a total shock. i had a moment of i knew there was something off about you, but i didn't know what exactly, so i was still surprised. i adore adam, and ronan as well. i love the dynamic between gansey/adam/ronan/noah and all it's combinations. i also ship blue/gansey and ronan/adam ridiculously hard.

↳k lynn smith, plume
  • this is a webcomic and it's absolutely amazing. the art is stunningly beautiful. the characters are wonderful. the story is magnificent. i cannot recommend it highly enough. it's about a girl, vesper gray, who is intent on revenge, despite her protector corrick's resistance. it's a western and set during the 1900s but has many fantastical elements. it's so good i honestly cannot even summarize it properly, i'm not giving it nearly enough credit. just start reading and you'll see what i mean. isn't the art amazing?

what i'm reading next
↳maggie stiefvater, blue lily, lily blue
  • i'm avoiding looking at the synopsis for this one until i finish the dream thieves because i'm afraid i'll spoil myself. normally, i don't care about spoilers but this series feels like one of those ones you should really try to avoid spoilers while reading. the change in format of the titles is irking me. that's about the only opinion i have right now. i'm also trying to decide whether i should read immediately after finishing dream thieves or if i should wait, considering the fourth book isn't out yet and i don't actually know when it will be.

↳sarah dessen, dreamland
  • i'm actually a huge sarah dessen fan and i've read almost everything she's ever written. only almost though. i've yet to read dreamland. i promised a friend i would finally read it and i agreed as i love dessen and it's a short read anyway. i'm not sure why i've yet to read it. possibly because it's one of her earlier novels (published in may 2004) and it doesn't look like it follows the same narrative structure of her other books. the main character is already in a relationship when the book starts, which i can only think of happening in one of her other books and the budding relationship between the main character between the main character and her designated love interest is one of my favorite parts of the book. it's just seemed the least interesting one of her books to me, but i'll give it a shot.
