Sweet!

Today has been very... strange and wonderful. This morning at 6 my computer's powercord once again died - it's clear to me now that the wiring in the computer is defective such that the battery simply does not hold a charge and the thing overheats so damn easily (often to the point of burning me) - must be why the cords don't last long either. Anyway, I was working all night on my annotated bibliography that was due a month ago... I barely had enough time to burn a disk to back up my key documents before losing all power.

It was very stressful, but later I was able to pull it together and continue working. Which I shall do also when I complete this update.

After class today, I called my parents. They had come up this weekend to see the show (which my father despised because of it's "rampant" homosexuality) and over dinner I told them of my proposal to stay here in DC this summer. It quickly got very ugly, with them not believing I was capable of surviving on my own and that I was insulting them by doing this. I was devastated since it seemed my chances were shot. However, on the phone, I learned that they had continued to discuss it, and NOW I CAN STAY IN DC!!!!! Sally's going to sublet a room to me at 3604 T street for $940 a month... pretty awesome I must say.

The news continued to get better - tonight there was an LGBTQ Alumni-Undergrad mixer for the point of networking... and one of the guys I met told me to send him my resume and he'd listproc it to all the gay alumni in DC for a job (most likely high paying)!!!! So now all I have to do is come up with a resume... which I've been unable to finish since September, let us recall. However, with this clear prospect in sight, I'm very optimistic.

Lastly, tonight Vanessa & Sarah and I met for our first rehearsal of Othello IV:iii, the scene I'm directing as my submission in the Night of Scenes on Thursday, which will decide if I get to direct next year. We did a first read-through, then went over and discussed the script, and with my notes went at it again... and it was AMAZING. I was really moved - and now am VERY excited to put it up (both Don & Ian expressed anticipation at seeing the scene performed). Things are looking up... they are indeed. And all because I do a little work (and a little play). Just keeping a positive attitude, hunkering down and dividing my time - making clear distinctions between work and reward... and life isn't bad. Not bad at all.

Now I just have to get this stuff done... and worry about what to do concerning my computer and my iPod.... I need music!!!!!!
