Since my body is ravaged with sickness, i'm basically immobile, useless (more so than usual?), and left to my own devices. It's just me and I'm here with my own thoughts and I'm thinking about relationships. I've been thinking about my own associations a whole helluva lot lately and am now more confused than ever. Romance is dead. This day and age, the slightest flaw is considered a dealbreaker, no ifs ands or buts. Simply because we have the power to communicate with a much broader and more diverse group of people than we did when romance ran rampant and infused its ideals into books and movie scripts. And there's the fucked up part. Communication served to both destroy romance and perpetuate its existence in an unfortunate few. Some of us were constructed from movies we've seen, books we've read, lovers we hoped we would someday become. These people probably hold on tightly to who they've found, hoping to build a semblance of the movie screen relationships, complete with flaws. Others constructed themselves from social situations: their friends, the stigma of dating a "flawed" person. These people tear through lovers like a year old baby from the womb. The gray area consists of those that want silverscreen romance and won't settle for anything less than perfection; the ease in which we communicate almost ensures that a young person will believe "I can find someone better." It is true that we are all at least a little shallow when it comes to physical demands, but the true romantic will look for that spark inside that travels up the fuse and ignites a Chinese rocket headed straight for the moon of love. But yeah, dating is hard when it's so easy to believe you can find a better person. don't think I responded properly, but when I write I never think, apparently. Too bad we don't live in little blue tribes and have to find the good parts of the very few girls we have to choose from...
