Class got me thinking today...If you actually give a damn about what's going on in this country/world, please take a few minutes to read this...

As of today (April 24), 3,333 members of the US military have died fighting in the War in Iraq.
144 deaths in the British Military.

didn't mean to offend anyone... deja_entendu4 April 25 2007, 05:14:49 UTC
I don't blame the whole thing on President Bush; I know that there are A LOT of people who are responsible for where our country is at right now. I made that comment about him at the end because I really don't think that he is doing what he should be to help our country.

I know that New Orleans isn't the only place to feel the wrath of Hurricane Katrina. But does that mean that they don't 'deserve shit'? There are still a lot of people there who aren't receiving the treatment they deserve. I know I wrote about New Orleans; that's just because that's the city that I have the most information on. That doesn't mean that I don't care about the people in the surrounding areas who were just as affected. They deserve help too. I think the whole area in the Southeast that was affected needs attention; it's been two years and there are still thousands who are homeless.

What's going on right now in darfur is horrible. And sadly, (besides the small groups who are doing everything they can to help) I don't think there is anything major that is going to be done about it for a while. There is a bill that is supposed to pass within the next few days that will require the withdrawl of US troops from Iraq beginning October 1, and hopefully to complete the pullout within six months. Who knows if this will actually happen... but I hope that if it does, than our government will lose focus on Iraq and turn its attention towards the genocide in Darfur.
