It had seemed like hours after she had started her workout when she heard the call. Pausing for a moment in the series of combinations she was working on, Flidais steadies the bag
( ... )
Pitifully distraught he looked up at her before she dropped down to his level. A certain relief spilled over him from having her answer his call so sudden after making it. She'd understand, she had been hurting too.
In her embrace he wrapped his arms around her and crooked his neck, laying his slanted head into her bosom and manages to muster out of his massive sniffling, "Fli he deceived us so."
Frantically through more tears he managed: "I don't know what to do."
Flidais' concern about Anteros' doubles and she continues with her gentle stroking while adding in a few "shhhs" and "it's going to be okay".
"Who deceived us? Who is us?"
At his second frantic statement Flidais, transport them from his shower to his bedroom, wrapping him up in a big soft fluffy towel in the process.
"It's going to be okay..you'll see. Whoever hurt you will get his or hers or theirs. Nobody messes with my friends and gets away with it."
The statement normally would have been rather amusing since Flidais is about the least threatening Goddess ever but times have changed and she no longer fears drawing from the part of her that normally only Ares has the luxury of seeing.
Being too distraught to notice Flidais' warrior woman state of mind, his fingers clasped the towl together she had shrouded his water drenched body in.
Exhaling deeply and shaking like a windblown leaf: "My br-brother Cu-Cupid and I. Pothos, this-this other erote---older than us, he manipulated us into yearning for one another with such zeal that---that things happened I don't think either of us were expecting. Pothos kept manipulating us---violent passion."
He held his breath: "I'd never---"
He burst into another outbreak of tears: "Cupid is going to hate me."
She could always tell When Anteros was feeling awful... it settled on her like an afghan of guilt... the sort of afghan that was created by a loved one, that's grown comfortable after years of use.
Still, Guilt was guilt, and there was little to do about it, save offer the bit of comfort that she could. Toed the door to Anteros' room open, she stepped in wordlessly, one hand carrying a mug of cocoa...the real sort, not the powdered variety...the other carrying a plate of cookies. She placed the plate on the night table and took a seat on the edge of the bed, holding the mug.
After Flidais had left him, he'd drawn the curtains, turned off all the lights, and buried himself under thick blankets. The room was only dimmed by the emitting aquarium light. He'd laid there watching the fish and grieving when another light intruded on his dark cell. He glanced at the platter of cookies and tried for a smile...it was wistful instead.
"We've spoke of self destruction---It was such a long time ago--- Given enough time lovely, if we don't destroy ourselves----someone else will come and help us along. And it's always our own fault."
He'd played with an all consuming fire, burning was only a side effect of dying. Why'd he ever invite Pothos back into his life.

She sighed, and handed him the mug of cocoa, brushing the hair off his brow softly
It's not always what you think it is, hon.

Sighing, "I don't know how it can't be."
