Erebos threw down his fiftieth hand.
"Gin."
Leaning back as Prometheus cursed the fact that he could link exactly none of his high-scoring cards to Erebos' set, the Darkness glared at the table. The enjoyment of this had long passed. When it came time to shuffle again, he gathered the cards in his hands, stacked them fastidiously, then proceded to shuffle them. Only this time, they did not fall into place between his fingers. This time, they disappeared.
"I weary of this. Though you are a good player, Prometheus. The challenge is gone. Let the waiting end. Come now."
He extended his hand. At the contact of the skin, he and Prometheus appeared in the center of the Pantheon, masked from the sight of others. Even their essences remained undetected under the shield of The Darkness. Right beside Ares' temple. He held up his hand for a moment of silence, a moment of stillness. The calm before the storm.
Nyx, he said silently. "Warn The Shining One not to interfere with what is to come. I assume you have made contact with Zeus. Tell him it begins. Let the Olympian King know that he will soon be free to walk the Pantheon unmolested."
Erebos had a few shreds of patience left. They were reserved for Nyx alone.
