Seeking out Himeros

Sep 12, 2005 22:12

After his talk with his brother, Thanatos and after regaining what was his from his sister, Styx , Phlegethon decided to take Death's advice and seek out Desire. Seek out Himeros. Not that he was even sure of where he would find him. Heading back to the mortal plane he headed back towards the lake. The one that he, himself, had encased with fire ( Read more... )

Feeling that this could turn into a rather ugly argument - which Himeros disliked greatly - the erote shrugged noncomitally. "I see."

That was a safe answer.

"No, you don't." At least he wasn't going around kissing anyone that he knew or his sisters and such.

Perhaps you don't feel the same at all

Himeros sighed, fingers playing with the River of Fire's dark hair. He chose to keep quiet. He would avoid a confrontration if it were the last thing he did.

"You don't really give a damn do you?" It had to be asked. Just had to be because there was no way he was sharing Himeros. With anyone no matter who the hell they were.

"Pothos is my counterpart. He is more than my brother, more than a friend, simply more. He also just is. Not everyone understands it, but that is how things are."

Fingers brushing an errant lock of hair out of the other god's face. "That doesn't change anything with you."

"It does because I'm not sharing you, Himeros. I don't share. And there is no way that I'll share with him. Ever. Much less be fine with you kissing on him no matter how much more he is."

Himeros resisted the urge to frown. He knew the emotions of jealousy and possessiveness well. As an erote, he was supposed to, but love was freely given and taken. He could not understand why Phlegethon was so upset about Pothos.

"My love is given freely to those I care for. I am an erote, that is who I am."

"Then go. Be with him. Because love is NOT given *THAT* freely. So if you want Pothos then you go to him. Be with him." The anger, jealousy and possessiveness spiked in the river of fire and the heat around them became unbearable. Because love was NOT given like this. But if that's how the erote wanted to play it then so be it. At least he did not choose to be with his brothers or sisters or anyone that would make Himeros jealous.

Himeros wanted to back away from the River of Fire but he knew enough of Love's emotions to realize that that would have been a mistake. He placed his hand on the immortal's shoulder and hissed when the touch burned his palm. "This is not about choosing between you or Pothos, Phlegethon. You are both dear to me and you need to see that."

He scoffed at that. "You do NOT go around kissing other men and expect it to be okay!" He snaps his anger and heat rising. "That is not acceptable. You may care for him. He maybe your counterpart..." The word 'counterpart' being said with so much hatred and distaste to it. "But you can not go kissing on him and expect me to look the other way!"

Himeros struggled to control his rising ire. "Perhaps we should talk about this when you are more in control of your emotions...and the heat you give off," he said tightly.

The heat made his vision swim and Himeros blinked rapidly, trying to control it. "It's too hot, Phlegethon. Cool yourself down."

"Not until you get it through your head that I do NOT share! Now or ever." And it was something that Himeros would just have to get used to when it came down to him. He left the cave going into the water, the water becoming so how that it practically boiled around him.

Himeros glared at the Underworlder's back but refrained from saying anything he might regret. Now would be a good time to leave before things got more complicated - especially when they already were.

He flashed back to Olympus, not even bothering to say goodbye.
