Once again, Nyx found she needed to ground herself and find composure. She couldn't simply run to Ere every time she left Apollon's temple, but nonetheless, that was her first impulse.

However, time was short, exceedingly short, and she would contact him once things were aligned properly. With that thought, she did gather her wits, her composure, and herself. Yes, she would see Ere soon enough.

First, it was time for a different familial visit.

It had broken Nyx's heart when Hybris had left. She had known the inevitability of Hybris' departure. Even had she not been the keeper of Fate until her daughters came of age, Hybris leaving the Underworld was easy to see coming from a long time away.

Nyx had only always hoped she would have come back.

Night had always left little gifts for her prodigal daughter. Things she thought she might like, things that might interest her bright and complex mind. Sometimes pretty things, but often little things for Hybris to enjoy.

Nyx knew Hybris' nature, knew how she truly operated compared to what she showed the world. It mattered little though... "Bree," as Nyx knew few were allowed to call her, was her daughter, and so she missed her. She could only watch her in her non-corporeal way.

She had left Hybris to her own devices for millenia - eons perhaps. Never did she approach her, never did she push, after those first few times when Hybris had made it abundantly clear she was not interested in returning to the Underworld. Rather, Nyx had watched from afar, and had suffered for the most part in silent, as talking to Erebos about it was completely impossible.

Stubborn asses, both of them, really.

Today, however, there was reason for a visit. Today, something more important than Erebos' or Hybris' pride was hanging in the balance, and Nyx would be damned if an absurd family dispute was going to put any of her children in danger.

Nyx appeared on the threshhold of Hybris' home on the mortal plane wearing sunglasses and a midnight sundress, along with stylish stilettos. For a moment, she wondered if Hybris would recognize her in modern, Western clothing. Then she smiled at herself.

Of course Hybris would recognize her. She was Nyx.

nyx, hybris
