She was mid-laugh when she felt it. Though currently in her Olympian form, the goings-on in her home were never far from her consciousness ( Read more... )

Hekate hmphed, letting Persephone do all of her huggy mother-daughter crap with the kid. It was only expected, especially now that Hades was trying some wicci-weird mojo downstairs and cleaning out the Underworld at the same time. He'd better not taken too long with this crap. Missing MacGyver was one thing, but if she missed the A Team, someone was going to pay.

To be honest, that was only a part of why she was quite unhappy about all of this. It was nice that Hades was getting into magic and all, but really, she couldn't help feeling a little green-eyed about it all. She was the Goddess of Witchcraft and Magic, the Goddess of the Crossroads. He could have at least consulted her before starting all of ths nonsense.

Typical man.

Conjuring a glass with a yellow-green liquid inside, she handed it to Persephone "Here. Get this down your neck. Should sort you out."

The weasel by her feet crossed the grass cautiously, sniffing at the bag containing Meilinoe's books. It tried to scramble onto it to get a better look and fell inside.

"Calling Underworlders to his cause? Eh, he's going to need it"

Extending the berth of his rule. Another usurper to usurp the usurper. Feh, it was all too much damn drama for a crown and sceptre in Hekate's view.

Meilinoe hugged her mother, a little uncomfortable with her confusion but still glad to see her, especially since she wasn't alone during what could only be phrased as an evacuation. She was well aware of her mother's connection with Hekate, and Meilinoe smiled at the witch. Hekate, who was not one for smiling made some sort of waving gesture in return, and she knew that was the friendliest gesture she would receive from her.

When her mother let her go, she bent down and opened her satchel and picked up the weasel. It wriggled and squirmed in her hands, so Meilinoe let it go. The animal ran back to its owner and cowered behind her ankle.

"If he's calling us all, then why did we have to leave in the first place? What's he doing?"

Persephone gratefully took the bottle offered her friend and swallowed its contents. Immediately, she felt relief, balanced, and... well, renewed. Addressing's comment, she said,

"He will need it, Hekate. And..."

She paused, turning to Meilinoe. "I don't quite know what he's doing, sweet. Or rather... I don't quite know the details of what he's doing. And I'm a little afraid to ask."

The Springtime balled her hands into fists then released them several times.

"Meil, I want you to be safe. It's likely safest here on the surface... but if you want to come with me, it would please me very much."

Hekate was one of Persephone's closest friends in the Underworld. In the winter months, Persephone tended to spend almost as much time with her as she did with Hades. And Persephone was in need of that moral support.

"Hekate... I have to go see him. I know that you don't like to get involved in these kinds of things, and I'm not asking you to fight, and I won't let him either. But."

She paused.

"Could you come with me?"

The weasel scampered about Hekate's feet, chasing after moths that were hiding in the grass, making a little sneezing movement everytime one accidentally landed on it's nose. Hekate frowned at the creature and picked it up, looking at it curiously before setting it back on her shoulder. It made a bed in her hair and laid its body over the back of her neck, snuggling down for the time being where it was warm.

Persephone was right. She didn't like to get involved in these sorts of things, and she wasn't going a-warring for anyone. But Persephone was a good friend, earthy (which was sort of obvious, given who her mother was), not like a lot of Gods, sitting around twiddling their pretentious little thumbs and combing their damn hair. She was a good apple that one. And if the good apple needed the old witch to go with her, she could hardly refuse, now could she?

"Eh, why not. Me and him's got a bone to pick over me missing MacGyver" she frowned

Hekate looked over at Meilinoe.

"You coming, kid?"

Meilinoe listened to her mother's words. Well, the field really didn't hold much appeal for her, that she had to admit, but was it really safe to go and see Hades right now? After the warning he'd given them? Her mother seemed to think so, and Hekate was going too...

"I suppose I wasn't planning on going back just yet since Hate spread the warning and all, but I'd rather be with you, mom. If that's okay"

Meilinoe picked up her satchel. With all the book carrying she was doing lately, it made her consider whether maybe she should have tried for a job in a library somewhere.

Persephone smiled in relief at Hekate. She had a lot of respect for the Witch, but the friend meant a great deal more, especially because of moments like these.

"Thank you," Persephone said simply.

She also smiled in relief when Meil decided to join her. She'd never been one to force Meil to do anything, and the truth was, if safety was the main concern, technically, it might be safer on the mortal plane. But the fact was that Kore-Stygia felt better having her daughter with her - though generally easy going, she wasn't the Queen of the Underworld for nothing, and was more than capable, in her estimation, of protecting her child.

Which she would without hesitation or remorse, regardless of what it required.

"All right then," she said to the two ladies.

"Let's go."
