Take it away Than

Long after Harmonia departed, Anteros had sat upon the piano bench in silent reverie, stroking out a fantasia upon the piano's keys that he had only two years earlier composed while shackled with sadness. Clumsily he began missing notes or not hitting chords correctly while wracking his adamant brain for a solution to the new emotional ailment troubling him. Could a daydream be tortured? Surely so, for those belonging to him were, every potential solution led his mind down imagined paths of destruction. It punched away at him from the inside out; peace was far and away from him tonight.

One thing was for certain, though a god he may be and talented in his area of expertise, he was no glorious virtuoso. He decided he would leave musical pursuits to Apollo and his children as he stopped pressing the keys, his fingers lingering over them as he peered outside his front window. Morosely he was wishing Harmonia hadn't made the request she had and he was wondering if she was aware of what her request had meant.

He didn't know why anyone, his sister included, would want to be punished if she could escape it! Hadn't she already been punished enough? For merely being born? And now he would be the source of her pain in the very near future? Unbearable. His elbow hit a section of bass as its weight slammed down on the keys, his slanted hand stretched over his forehead, fingers massaging his temples as the resonation of the deep sound passed away like the final and terrible last beat of a dying heart. Trying to come up with a suitable punishment for Harmonia was almost as heartbreaking as being in a room with death. Why had she insisted? Was it because of her love for the conflicted one had driven her to desire suffering that he had suffered or was it because it was the right thing to do? No, it was all utter rubbish! She didn't know what she asked of him! She didn't know what she asked him to do!

Glancing over the keyboard, Anteros again put his fingers in position on the keys, about to pick up where he left off when all the notes seeped through the cracks of memory. The way he had once hit the keys, a fleeting memory suddenly replaced with thoughts of endless infliction.

Anteros needed a distraction from the sweet madness Harmonia had imparted on him, from the request that he would grant her despite his want not to. He needed something to take his thoughts off of it if only for a breath.

He remembered Lethe had come to see him at a most inconvenient time a few days ago. What had she wanted? He was going to find out...

Only that would result in him going to the Underworld. He took a deep breathe, not enjoying the concept of what he was going to have to do to get there. Anteros wasn't accustomed to visiting the Underworld except for in dreams which were never what they seemed, and quite frankly he feared getting lost if he went to see Lethe on his own. Then there was the chance of perhaps running into a shady character in its own territory that didn't like erotes. Anteros needed to charter Thanatos' help to get there and possibly back.

Anteros left immediately to seek death out.
