She smiled sheepishly. Sometimes she really just blurted out too much.
"Yes...Yes... He's really great, you know? All mischevious and such. Such a trouble-starter! He and I, we could make one great tragedy together."
She sighed wistfully, but then her thoughts turned sour again.
"But that Harmonia still has her claws in him! I guess it would have had to be strong for him to help her go and do that thing with..." She drifted off, winced... "Well, you know... With your dad and stuff... And even after that, Ares still wouldn't let them be together. Which, actually, that's good for me! But.. It's hard, too. I don't know if ..."
She had been wondering at the lack of Zeus' presence. Not because she wanted to be made to sit at his left hand while her mother sat on his right.
But because he wasn't the type to have left her presence go unremarked on. He'd treated her decently for the most part, which she'd had pointed out to her numerous times was rare among his relationships with his children.
They stopped at Seth's steps and Ruina turned around, shifting uncomfortably.
"Well, yes, you know... The whole...Snake thing?"
She held up her hand, making a parody of a snake, and then hissed a little. But then she noticed Justice's expression, and Ruina felt very cold inside.
Suddenly Strife's behavior made a touch more sense. "No. I didn't know." Stfie, Harmonia and a Snake.
"What happened ?" Dike asked simply, but her eyes were swirling, flashes of red cloudstorm and odd starbursts in their depths. She was curious. Very curious. "And whow is in charge now ?"
Ruina sat down on her father's steps, pulling Justice down with her. If Justice didn't know about this, and Ruina had accidentally told her, well, she deserved to know all of it. And this was a conversation to have sitting down.
"I wasn't there, so what I know is a little limited... But he was your Daddy, and I'll tell you as much as I can.
"From what I understand, Strife went into auto-kill mode (which, by the way, was really really hot), and, in order to please HarMONia's dad enough to make him let Strife date her, he and Harmonia (I think!) trapped Zeus in the form of a snake. Then they gave the snake to Ares, who is now in charge.... Though. I don't know what they did with Znake."
Znake. She liked that. Zeus-Snake. Z-snake. Znake. It was good.
But she turned her thoughts away from how pleased she was at the new word, to being worried for the girl here who had lost her daddy.
"I'm sorry to break the news to you," she said quietly.
"You're in love with Strife ?"
The girl in front of her glowed in her mind's eye for a moment. But she couldn't quite make out why.
