Hooray! It's Christmas!

Life is better. Woo meds and perfume!

Went back on Adderall, for the (much) better. I feel clearer mentally, less frantic, frazzled, and disoriented. What a wonderful thing, to feel normal.

I also received a much anticipated shipment from BPAL. As a bonus to my six imps' ears and three 5ml bottles of my most favoritest scents, they also shipped seven frimps! Seven! I feel like it's my birthday or something. Two of them are the same, so in actuality they really only sent me five, but still. Free stuff is good stuff, especially from them.

It's long, just so you're warned.

All of them are pretty acceptable, except for one of the smells, which I'll get to at the end.

For the 5ml:

51--green mandarin, neroli, honeydew, white amber, guava, freesia, white and green musks hovering over desert scrub, smashed wood, and the dry, biting scent of night air over the Groom Lake salt flats.

It is rapidly becoming my all-time favorite scent. It's very floral, clean, and refreshing, like stepping out of a bath and dried off with flowers. However, it's not faint or too flowery. One of my Frimps from last time I ordered that I used up so quickly I got the Big Bottle.

London--venerable Victorian Tea Rose…twisted, blackened and emboldened with wickedness.

It's exactly as it states: tea rose (a light, airy smell) with a little hint of dark undercurrent, so it's not all rose. One of Megan's Imps, which I absconded with during her visit.

Jolly Roger--sea spray with an undercurrent of leather, Bay Rum, and salty, dry woods.

This smells like sweet sea water, mixed with Rum and a little leather thrown in. Plus it's got a Jolly Roger on the label. This one has a little bite to it for the days when you feel kind of saucy, but it's a very nice smell to have bite. A Megan Imp that she wouldn't give up, so I ordered it for myself.

For my Imps, I ordered Spirit of the Komachi Cherry Tree again, but I think I'm destined never to get that one.

Keep in mind, all of these will smell different once they interact with a person's skin. I'm smelling them right out of the bottle, so something that is too "heavy" smelling now might work just fine on my skin, or if not mine then someone else's.

Ordered Imps:

Paris--lavender, softly underscored by lotus and spice.

The first thing I noticed was the lavender, and then as if an afterthought the spice kind of took over whatever flowers were left. It's almost peppery and powerful. Not a Me scent in particular, but not an unpleasant one.

Blood Countess--corrupted black plum, smoky opium and crumbling dead roses covered by a deceptive veil of Hungarian lilac, white gardenia and wild berry.

First thing I'd say was "Cherries!" Probably the plum and berry. It does have an interesting after-scent of gardenia mixed with opium. It's a heavier smell, fresh fruit with a twist of flora and incense.

The Hesperides--sturdy oak bark, dew-kissed leaves, twilight mist and crisp apple.

This smells to me like crushed sweet plants and ground up apple rind, or like freshly shampoo'd hair. Delicious and light, my favorite smell of the group.

Persephone--pomegranate and rose.

I just spilled this one on my t-shirt, so I'd better like it. I already changed shirts twice today, so I'm leaving it.

Not a pomegranate or rose I've ever smelled. It's more earthy in it's deliverance, but it has some strong scent that I can't describe. The after-scent is sharp and reminds me of Resolve carpet cleaner. Sexy.

Ephemera--sorrowful violet and chamomile with muguet, white geranium, calla lily and tea rose with a hint of autumn leaves.

Even before I re-read the description, the smell came to my mind as "haunting." Again, floral, but kind of dying, dried floral. I can definitely smell geranium with a faint undertone of tea rose and chamomile. Definitely my second-favorite smell of the Imps.

Frimps! (Free Imps):

Dragon's Blood--powerful, commanding, blazing with strength.

Woah. They're not kidding. Not for the faint of nose. Smells like leather and something very strong and unpleasant. I'm gonna go with burning plastic, or maybe burning nose hairs. Shame I got 2.

The Lion--a golden, spiced amber, proud, regal and ferocious.

Let me be perfectly clear: I don't choose amber smells for myself, and this one doesn't do the prejudice any good. It's definitely spiced, but it's a sweet, peppered smell. Too strong for my own good.

Death Cap--a warm, soft, ruddy scent, earthy and mild.

Ooooh. Very earthy. Smells like lavender, earth, and mushrooms. It's on the strong side, but it's a pleasant smell despite the dirt.

Lilith--red wine, myrrh, black musk, and attar of rose.

Alcohol and myrrh, musky and fermenting fruit. Again, too strong for my nose, but I know that some people like scents that tend to be on the bold side.

Coyote--the warmth of doeskin, dry plains grasses and soft, dusty woods warmed by amber and a downy, gentle coat of deep musk.

Smells like the desert, cacti, and desert flowers. It's pleasantly sweet with a side of bite, probably the musk.

Eos--softly glowing skin, jasmine, buttercup and honeysuckle.

Yummy. Very light and comforting. A little like 51, but there's a definite note of honeysuckle.

Last and definitely least:

Shub-Niggurath--a blend of ritual herbs and dark resins, shot through with three gingers and aphrodisiacal spices.

For the life of me all I smell is stale candy corn and that fake scratch-n-sniff "honey" stuff we use at work for the Honey Latte. Plus it's one of those lingerers: every scent I tried afterwards smelled like Shub-whatever, and it clung to my hands, hair, and clothes. Blech.
