Chapter 23 Part 1

- Kame’s P.o.V -

I wake to the sound of "Real Face," wondering why the hell Jin would be calling me at eight a.m. on our day off.

"Kame, turn it off..." Koki groans next to me.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll be right back," in any case, it must be important. I get up and take my phone to the hall, answering as I close the door behind me. "Yeah?"

"Kazu!" Jin's voice is a pleading whine. "How do you get rid of Tatchan's hangovers?! He's been balled up under the covers for hours complaining and nothing I do helps! I even got him hangover medicine but he threw it at me!"

I groan. "Why didn't you call Nakamaru?"

"Because...!" suddenly, his voice goes down to a whisper, "Because Maru would've killed me for letting Tatchan get drunk!"

It's only as he says this that the situation starts to sink in. Tatsuya drunk, Jin over for the night... My jaw drops. "Y-you guys didn't... you didn't...?!" I splutter, thinking of the aftermath of every single night out drinking I had with Tatsuya.

But Jin's voice is furious. "No!! I wouldn't do that and you know it! I was going to leave when I thought he was suggesting--"

"H-he wanted you to--?!" I choke off in shock.

"NO! No-no-no, Kazu, you're--"

"JIN! STOP YELLING!! Itaiii..." I hear Tatsuya's muffled shouts on the line.

"Tatchan, gomen!" Jin calls more softly.

Tatsuya continues complaining-- Jin must be next to him now, that I can hear him so clearly-- and I sigh. "Jin, I'll tell you what to do, but tell me what happened, okay? I'll even tell you how best to handle him while he's still drunk."

"Really?!" Jin's relieved exclamation is shushed by a furious growl from Tatsuya. "Gomen, Tatsuya..."

I get a funny feeling that's not quite possessiveness or jealousy but not really... well, not, when I hear Jin use Tatsuya's given name like that. Lingering sentiment?

"Kame, are you coming back to bed?" Koki appears at the bedroom door.

I smile at him. "Sorry, Jin needs help with Tatsuya's hangover. I'll be back in a few."

He frowns, until-- upon hugging me-- he hears Jin's struggling, soothing, apologetic voice consoling a fuming and apparently long-suffering Tatsuya. Then he laughs outright and Jin hears and complains loudly, prompting Tatsuya to yell at me to go away because I'm making his headache worse. I tell Bakanishi how to deal with the Evil Princess and hang up laughing.

Koki smiles at me with a funny look in his eyes. "As bad as it sounds," he says in response to my questioning look, "I almost wish Ueda could keep the hangover, just so we can all stay like this a little longer."

My chuckles die down and I hold him close, give him a quick kiss. "Yeah, it does sound pretty bad, but I know how you feel," I remark. "Not to mention, it's been a while since Bakanishi was running around like a headless chicken. I'd forgotten how funny it is."

Koki just laughs. "How about a coffee? Might as well get up now."

I kiss him again. "You're amazing. I'll start breakfast."

He beams like a kid and tugs me to the kitchen.

"Koki."

"Hmm?" he looks up at me from over our schedules. I'm still not done my food, but my appetite is playing tricks again.

"Just what do you think is going on now between Jin and Tatsuya?"

He frowns. "Nothing that's any of our business, I don't think. But I also think Akanishi has a long way to go still."

I sigh. "I really fucked up, didn't I?"

Koki reaches over and smacks me on the head. "Ueda's always had issues and sure, you didn't deal with the situation very well, but neither did he."

"You're right, of course. Well, what're we doing today? Now that Bakanishi's woken us up early, I don't know what to do with myself."

Koki smirks. It's a smirk I've grown very familiar with, recently. "No need to worry about what to do with yourself; I'll take care of that. Why don't you worry about what you're going to do with me?"

I lean over the table and murmur, "Only if you can promise me no more interruptions."

"I--"

"Girigiri de itsumo ikite itai kara..."

"Can't promise that just yet," Koki finishes his sentence in a growl and grabs my phone, connecting the call. "What do you want now, Akanishi?!"

"Goddamnit Koki-kun, don't talk so loud! My head hurts..." I can hear Tatsuya's complaint from my new perch at Koki's shoulder.

"Well, if you hadn't been such a priss earlier, I could still be sleeping-- so I'll talk as loud as I want!"

"Be nice, Koki," I tease.

"Koki-kun, just put Kazuya on the line."

"He can hear you fine; he's at my shoulder now."

Tatsuya sighs. "Well, tell him sorry and thanks; I'll get Jin to buy him a coffee or something later. You too."

"Why do I have to pay?!" comes Jin's indignant cry.

"Because you didn't see the paper on the fridge!" Tatsuya yells back. Oh yeah, I left instructions months ago for party nights and sleepovers, just in case. How did I forget that?

"How was I supposed to know there were instructions?!" their bickering continues. "You never told me!"

"You're here often enough!"

"Uebo has a point," Koki remarks to me.

"Damn right I do..." Tatsuya mumbles.

Koki laughs. "Well, this 'newlyweds' bickering' is touching and all, but I have some more pressing touching matters to attend to so if you'll excuse us..." and with those words, Koki hangs up and switches my phone to silent. "Now I can promise you no more interruptions," he says with a smirk.

I arch an eyebrow. "And if someone comes to the door?" I wouldn't put it past Jin.

His smirk turns positively lewd. "If you're quiet enough for us to be able to hear the door, then I've failed more than the 'no interruptions' rule."

I tilt my head and nibble at his ear, enjoying the brief shiver the action incites. "Better do it right, then," I murmur into his ear.

He reaches up and weaves his fingers into my hair, guides me around and onto his lap. "With pleasure," he whispers against my lips.

The doorbell rings. Again.

"Koki," I whine, nuzzling his neck. "Go get the door?"

I can feel him roll his eyes and he pulls me closer. "No way."

"But they won't leave..."

"No interruptions, remember?"

It's my turn to roll my eyes. "But that part's done and I'm not starting another round with someone at the door," I crawl over top of him, grinding against his hips. "No matter how much I'd like to if there wasn't," I whisper against his lips.

He slides his hands up my legs, over my ass and up around my shoulders. He kisses me gently, but then groans in irritation when the doorbell rings again. "They're interrupting the nap-and-cuddle period. Ignore them," he nuzzles his face into the crook on my neck and I slide back beside him. He sighs.

We wait in silence for a while. Then the doorbell rings again. "Nap period, huh?" I glare pointedly at Koki. "Do I look asleep to you?"

He sighs again, this time resigned. "Fine, I'll get the damn door," he mutters, throwing on some boxers.

"Put a t-shirt on; those abs are for my eyes only outside of work."

"Yes, Wifey," he sticks his head back in the door, his tongue stuck out and eyes scrunched shut.

"Oi!" I yell after him, but he's closed the door. I throw some clothes on and my hand just reaches the doorknob when I hear Koki's shout.

"GOD! WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW?!

I roll my eyes. Approaching the genkan -- with a slight limp Koki doesn't fail to notice-- I give Jin a nod at the door. "Yo. Go away."

"Really, I feel so welcome my heart is melting into a gooey puddle much like the one you just got out of," Jin smirks. "Here, I brought coffees," he holds out a pair of cups. "I was gonna tell you about last night, too, but I'm probably more welcome elsewhere," he pouts.

"Yes, you are," Koki dead-pans, taking the proffered cups. "How about you talk tomorrow at work over break? We're busy."

"And have been, I can tell," Jin's pout turns back to a lecherous smirk, taking in our disheveled states. "Just make sure Kazu can dance tomorrow; we've got new choreo to learn, remember!"

I stick out my tongue at him. "That's none of your business, Bakanishi-- go back and babysit our princess. See you at work, and thanks for the coffees."

"Yeah yeah, you guys watch for those paparazzi!" he sing-songs. "Bye-bye, I'll leave you to your icky stuff now."

Koki slams the door in his face just as he raises his hand to wave, locks it. "I swear, that guy could keep a whore abstinent he's such a turn-off," he grumbles.

I laugh. "Whatever. Let's just nap and we can warm these up later."

He immediately brightens up. "Okay! You know, you're a stick, but somehow surprisingly comfy."

"Um, thanks?" I give him a look. Was that a compliment? Doesn't matter, because he distracts me, wrapping an arm around my hips to pull me closer before stripping me of the t-shirt I threw on earlier. "What are you doing?"

He strips down himself and leads me to the bed. "It's more comfy, sleeping naked. Don't you think?" his tone is the essence of the rhetoric.

I roll my eyes but laugh and follow him into bed. "You're weird. But I guess you're right," I chuckle, wrapping my arms around him.

"Damn straight," he says with a smug look.
