So, I started work on Monday, and so far everything is going well. I'm working with the head pharmacist at MediSun, which is a MediCare-contracted organization under Sun Health. I basically do whatever projects they can come up with. It's just like my old on-campus job at Drake (the office work, not the prostitution), but with twice the pay.
Notes:
- I think spending 8 hours of my day in a giant cube deteriorates my social skills. Obviously. But I have found that I generally have very little to say, none of it interesting, when I'm having lunch in the breakroom. The others don't seem to know quite what to make of me. Two of them eyed me askance as I performed the rather un-American practice of adding milk and sugar to my English Breakfast tea.
"Is that coffee?" one of them asked as I poured in the sugar. "Or...tea?"
"Tea," I replied concisely, stirring in the milk.
- Something tells me that I'm going to be consuming Beth-like, ungodly amounts of tea at this job.
- Much to my amusement, I was told today that I work "too fast" and should slow down because they're running out of projects for me to do. Basically, they told me to slack off. So now I'm writing this entry on a pad of paper, pretending to look engrossed in my work.
- The ironic thing is, I actually like working, insofar as I am kept busy and spared from chipping down the minutes with the dull blade of boredom.
I think I'll write a letter to Adam now...
