“Becker, since when has an allergy been a security issue?”
“Since you nearly died yesterday!”
Jess sighed. It had been sweet at first. Now his behaviour was bordering on overprotective. And slightly patronising.
“But I didn’t. I’m fine.”
“That’s not the point, Jessica!”
“So what is the point, Captain?” Jess finally snapped.
Becker gaped at her for a full ten seconds before he pulled himself together.
“Never mind,” he muttered, avoiding her glare.
As he walked away, Jess could have sworn she heard the words, ‘security stuff’.
