“... don’t give a damn about your orders!”
Abby stops short when Becker returns. Their eyes meet, and he momentarily glimpses her fears, until Connor stumbles out as well and the tension snaps.
Then the shouting really begins.
Several minutes later, Becker can still hear the echoes of Abby’s furious tirade, mostly involving words like “arrogant,” “stubborn,” and “bastard,” (directed at him), and “stupid,” and “idiot,” (at Connor).
Becker suspects he should probably be more annoyed about the metaphorical Abby-sized footprint in his arse when she has finished.
But they both know he’d do the same again in a heartbeat.
