Jess looked so happy curled up in his arms, Becker yet again couldn’t help feeling like a fraud. She was sweet, and he had to admit he enjoyed spending time with her, but he couldn’t go on lying to her.
“Jess, I have to tell you something.”
She wriggled around to look up at him, so trusting.
“Oh?”
Becker had no idea how to say it. He could imagine the look of disgust in her eyes.
“What is it? You can tell me, it’s okay.”
Becker hoped Jess wouldn’t hate him when she knew the truth.
“I love orange chocolate.”
