The anomaly in the underground was still there two days later. The giant insects hadn’t come back, so Ryan’s guard duty mostly involved watching over the scientists at work.
Connor in particular was a whirlwind of geeky enthusiasm, chattering about magnetic anomalies to anyone within earshot, and repeatedly ‘testing’ the strength of the magnetic field. Ryan suspected it would be prudent to keep an eye on his weapons at all times, in case Connor ran out of metal objects.
Eventually Ryan gave in to his curiosity and interrupted with a question.
“Connor? Do you really have giant bug fridge magnets?”
