Connor was still asleep when Abby crept back into the apartment in the pre-dawn light. She locked herself in the bathroom, poured a glass of water, and only then fished the packet out of her pocket. It was lucky, she reflected, that Connor hadn’t lost his wallet in the cretaceous.
Their first night back had passed in a blur of hot baths, conversation, comfort, and eventually a few hours of much needed sleep.
Abby double-checked the door was locked, scanned the instructions, and then downed the morning after pill before Connor saw her.
She loved him. But not that much.
