Cutter sat, staring at the gently rotating anomaly in the underground, a million questions whirling in his head.
What was it? A rip in space and time, obviously. But how? Why? Why now? What was causing them?
According to Stephen’s barely coherent muttering, Helen had come through this one as well. How did she know he had finally discovered the anomalies? Had she been watching him all along for the past eight years?
But perhaps the most immediately important question was how long Connor Temple was going to sit beside him babbling, before he took the hint and buggered off.
