I've been meaning to repost these for nearly a month now, but kept forgetting. They're both drabbles written for the April Team Fest drabble trees.

Abby turned away. She didn’t want to see him cry.
“What? Why?”
“It’s not working.”
“But... you said...”
She could already hear the pain in his voice, and she didn’t dare turn around. She couldn’t let him see how much this was hurting her as well.
“That was the cretaceous, Connor. Things are different now.”
“Abby, please, it’s not different. We can do this. I’ll try harder, whatever you want. Please.”
“No, Connor.”
Abby knew it was for the best. He deserved better. She could never give him what he really needed. But she could do this.

Jess watched the teams drag themselves back in from a particularly long and messy anomaly shout. Becker was the last one to hand his black box in.
“You did really well today,” Becker said, sounding impressed.
“You say that like you’re surprised,” Jess countered.
“No! I didn’t mean... What I meant was...”
Jess giggled.
Becker glared for a moment before a smile began to twitch at the corner of his mouth.
“You’re just too easy to wind up,” Jess grinned.
Becker leaned over and kissed her, smirking as he pulled back.
“And it’s far too easy to make you blush.”
