Flyers, etc

So the first period of the game went well.  They were playing great defensively.  They scored quickly.  They were really owning the ice.  They ended the first period with about a minute and a half left of a power play.  They quickly scored in the second period.  And then they fell apart.  It was like they wanted the Caps to win. I swear they didnt know where the puck was ever.   And I can only imagine how easy it would be to lose sight of the puck on the ice.  But really.  And the other problem was they decided to try to play on defensively - and zone.  Zone was not working at all.  As was well demonstrated by the 4 goals the Caps scored in the last two periods.  After the blowing a 2 goal lead when the game was tied, you would think they would have put their heads back in it.  But instead they played in true Philadelphia style - good at first and then gave up.  I must say also that there were definitely some BS calls.  Like the diving call.  How do you dive backwards when someone hits you in the face?  The first tripping call was also BS - not 20 seconds earlier one of the Caps  tripped one of the Flyers and it wasnt called.  Although I must give credit where credit is due - Ovechkin (I doubt that is spelled right, Sorry Sam) did have some nice goals.  The Caps did keep their act together and played hard the whole game.
I guess we will have to see what happens tonight.

I havent really updated about my life lately  (this is the etc part of the subject line, lol)   But there isnt much going on.  The most exciting part of my weekend was getting the new couch!! :-)  Our old one is still ok, but is definitely dying.  The frequency with which you fell between the cushions and felt the springs had increased dramatically.  And since we are always on the couch when in the living room, we decided to replace it.  We went looking.  The first one we found was a really nice wrap-around sectional.  But it was $1100 and we didnt really want to spend that much.  So we found a really good deal at a local furniture place.  (I must explain about this place because it amuses me.  When you pull up to it looks like it doesnt belong in our area because people are too stuck up.  The whole parking lot is gravel.   The building is an older cinder block building.  Nothing special.  The show room is fairly small.  And there is obviously no furniture stored in the building because it is too small.  We found out later that they store the furniture in trailers - like semi trailers - until it is delivered or picked up.  But the staff was awesome, very friendly, helpful, low pressure.  They give you a 5% discount for paying cash or check.  Another 5% discount if you pick it up yourself.  So an extra 10% off makes prices even better.)  So our new couch is pretty much the same as our old one, different fabric and obviously new.  But it is awesome.  So comfy.  And the price was amazing.  We spent more than $100 less than our limit.  I love when things work out like that!  And now the living room looks bigger.  We took the 2 chairs out and put them into the basement.  So there are the 2 couches in the living room.  Which also means more seats for when there are a million people over.  The only person who doesnt like the new couch is the kitty - and he isnt a person anyway.

Ok now I feel old, because I was so excited about my couch!  And the more I talk about it, the more I just want to go home and nap on it.  Between getting up early yesterday so I could come into work early to get to the game on time and going to bed late after the game, I am exhausted.  I am not so sure I will make it through the day.  And it totally didnt help this morning - somehow the volume on the alarm got turned to max.  It scared the shit out of me.  But it was too early to get out of bed (because Jim has gotten me in the bad habit of using snooze) and it took me a minute to relax enough to rest until I had to get up.  It didnt help that Jim was trying to steal all the covers!  Jerk!!  ;-)
