I taught the boys how to knee, elbow and kick today, along with some clinching drills. mik and igo loved the clinching, because they were like sparring but only with plum positioning. I know for a fact they hated the rounds of shadowboxing with single techniques and footwork. Spewed some tough love today too, just the proper push for them to work harder.
Mik's form really improved, once he learned proper hip movement. The old *door maneuver works it's magic again. Igo was a bit cocky at first, but fatigue once again reared it's head. Props to him for picking up form quickly, though. Both have killer instinct, but I have yet to see heart. During conditioning both would become stagnant in the middle of burpees and ab work. They don't understand that if you can't push through this shit, how the fuck are you going to push through a knee or kick to the ribs?
This Saturday another one joins the Hive. I have this gnawing feeling that he won't come back after Saturday, but I hope to be proven wrong. I'll probably give him the first day, a focus on punching and moving, but more importantly, proper hip movement and defense.
This is such a new experience for me, actually training people as opposed to me being trained. Plus, I never knew how painful it is to hold pads for three guys at five rounds each.
