My dad has disappointed me more than it is possible to say.
He said something like this:
"Tegan, you're really scaring me. You're dropping out of school, your boyfriend is 35, and you want to go live with a lesbian. These are not good behaviors."
Fuck him very much.
1) Dropping out of school is my choice. I'm not going to change who I am for him.
2) Who I date is my choice, as well. I don't really care what my dad thinks.
3) Being gay is NOT a fucking disease! It's not a sickness you can catch, okay? You don't CATCH it by hanging out with people, damnit!
My dad prides himself on how he treats everyone fairly, but this is the LAST fucking straw. You can't claim to treat everyone fairly and make remarks like that. I think living in the goddamn bible belt is getting to him.
I can't believe he would adopt the "Holier-Than-Thou" attitude. The sooner I move away, the better.
I can't believe that my father knows less about people than I do.
What right does he have? What fucking right does he have to act like that?
It appears that bigotry is a contagious disease.
God.
Excuse me for loving people regardless of what they do and the lifestyles they choose. It's none of my business what they do, and it doesn't bother me. I wasn't aware that it was a fucking crime to love someone who chooses to be different.
Excuse me for living the way your bible says to live.
Here, I'll actually bust out the Holy Book and prove it.
Matthew 7:1-5.
Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see more clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
I've gone to Church. Sometimes, it seems to me that I know more of the Bible and have read more of the Bible than many people that claim to be "good Christians" have. So, next time someone feels like they want to use the Bible and God as an excuse to put down my friends and condemn lifestyles they don't understand...read the Bible. Know the message.
Then shut your goddamned mouth.
