at this time i my life, i am running about 3 businesses;belly dance, music, and a green accessory line. revenue is about $0? which is expected of any baby business. and now a fourth, technical writing for sciences. the fashion:im sewing, cluing for days upon days to get very little product done. music, same deal. dance has been productive. writing i must still delve into to find out what the time to product ratio is. it can all be done, i just have to believe it. and it can all be easy too. the networking is also a lot of time, effort and is not productive as bad that is to say. seems networking is a whole other business itself, so technically its about 5 things im trying to run. im really lazy and im not getting anything done. but im just going to blog my thoughts and experiences here for the pursuits i delve into in the name of my dreams.
Drew, the promotor of yogis, picks me up from my house in dc, its very early in the morning, and there was a earthquake that morning as well i may have slept through, but it was the talk of the day. we wait outside of shakti for MC, the yogi, a very beautiful and admirable girl i was glad to share my experience with. she has a striking tranquility to her, something i see amongst a lot of yogis and californians, and something i aim to have. i'm putting on my makeup while drew distracts me with quirky remarks about the female lifestyle. MC emerges from her yoga class and we ride to The Liason Hotel, a fancy ass hotel. We take the elevator to the rooftop where there are some dope couches and a pool, a great space for yoga. Drew introduces me to his colleagues and Samil, of the Hypnotic Gurus, who i would be working with that morning. The goal was basically to create a mood for the yoga students, and the camera...of live authentic scene of middle eastern music being performed (smashed with the modern technology) a computer, tibetan bells, and 2 inexperienced but good looking tambura players. looked pretty dope but wasnt real. I got very drawn into Faith Hunter's class being taught before me while fiddling with my beautiful wooden and very pregnant looking tambura. the feel got across many of the participants thought MC and i were really playing and loved it. Even at that point i was still waking up and wasnt fully present, but i was very touched by faith who ended her class saying "you can have anything in this world you want" encouraging her students to know their power.
reason i did this...networking...a fruitful experience? we will find that out. still need to follow up with Doug, owner of results gym to see if i can teach more classes and market to his customers already interested in fitness. And then i need to follow up with Sunil about belly dancing with his Hypnotic Gurus band. more and more, im finding less that 1% of my networking efforts actually lead somewhere...merg...so im just gonna have to network with a fuller throttle.
