I: Arrival

[It's dark. Very, very dark. Summoning ethereal swords for a light source seems rather a waste, but it will do for now. The blue, ghostly swords light up the room with a cool blue glow. Vergil stares about his room, taking in the general disarray of things.]

This is too far for a practical joke. Whatever the intent, I am not amused. If this is ( Read more... )

[Staring. Oh wait, what, greet? Yes.]

Um. Check your closet for clothes. Also, if you need help getting off the ship...

[Trying to play it cool about almost stripping while being somehow broadcast. Almost succeeding.]

Thank you for the advice. I believe I'll find my way.

[Clears his throat. Not awkward in the least, nope.]

Be careful. The power is out and it's unstable. You can find a map on your sphere, but the exit is in the library.

[Nods. Wait.]

There's a library?

[Wistful sigh]

It's not working without the power. And it wasn't working with the power anyway. I think when they blasted the exit it shorted it out.

How can a library no longer work without power?

It doesn't use normal books. I arrived after it was destroyed so I'm not really clear on how it was supposed to work.

Nice to meet you Vergil. Most of us are camped outside the ship for now, there's plenty of water and food, and aside from the affects of the pollen, this planet really isn't so bad.

Sorry I should start at the beginning shouldn't I? It's been an... Unsettling couple of weeks.

You're on the ship Crucible which apparently kidnaps people from their worlds for whatever reason. We've crashed on the planet Eos which is mostly full of frog creatures and butterflies.

Last week we discovered the pollen from the flowers... Well when they pollinate the affects are like being intoxicated. I've actually got a cure for it but it's... Still got things to work out.

The intoxication affects seem to have worn off anyway. But this morning a lot of us woke up the wrong gender. Not everyone remembers what gender they are even supposed to be. It's... It really should all be impossible but there you have it.

[Quietly listens, taking all this in] If it's an alien planet, I'd expect the pollen plays a vital bioecological role in reproduction. However, seeing as we're not natives, I'm surprised it affects us as well.
