I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight...
Some of my friends and I went to the Alamo Drafthouse to see a showing of Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan, partially because they were supposed to be showing 10 minutes of unseen material from the New Star Trek movie. So we arrived, waited in line for 3 hours, and I'm glad we did wait that long, because a line went waaaaaay back into the distance. Then we found ourselves some seats in the second or third row, and I'm glad we did for once, though my neck hurt badly by the end of the show..... The show... The screenwriters for the new movie came out with our host who introduced them, we were suprised at this, but thought it was normal enough since they were showing us unseen footage. After a brief time they left stage and Wrath of Khan started playing, and about 2 or 3 minutes in, the film went out of whack and finally cut out, to which someone in the back shouted 'KHAN!!' and we all had a laugh at that. Then our host came back up, said he was going to find out what was wrong and then asked the screenwriters to come up on the stage and keep us from rioting or something like that... So we were all amused and then they asked if we had any questions... this lasted about 2 or 3 minutes....
.... And then Leonard Nimoy came up to the front carrying reels for the new movie... everyone was on their feet screaming and cheering, they had kept us all from guessing what was really happening, we got the first screening of the new movie, it started several hours before Australia got to see theirs and ended 45 minutes before it started there. I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight, what an unforgettable experience.
I would love to be able to thank Leonard Nimoy for coming down and doing that for us, it was such an incredible honor to have him there.
