What a Christmas
So... we had an accident on our way to Vermillion, AB. We're all okay but HOLY CRAP, it was really scary. Somewhere between Meritt & Kamloops. Our car was running about 115km/h and hit this little tiny patch of black ice and TOTALLY slid before we flipped over the right side and then flipped AGAIN completely upside down and then flipped FOR THE THIRD TIME (KT:Goddamn.) on the left side and it stopped. Katie & Denis were on the bottom half of the car and were buried in snow. I was asleep the first half of the "flipping" and when I woke up, I turned right and my head hit the window and it shattered. (KT: Oh..what?...Crashing?....Okay great, thanks..*yawns*...hey have you seen my camera?) We were all screaming and yelling "I'm OKAY!" then Kate screamed "I can't move my leg"... and then we were all just yelling and screaming more. The engine was dead (thank God cause otherwise we would've blown up) and by the end of all the "flipping", me & Marie were on the top part of the car and Simon was sitting between me & Katie. Marie & I climbed out of the window and called 911 and 2 cars stopped and helped the rest of us get out of the car. Apparently I was bleeding SO much that I looked like Carrie & the pig blood but I didn't feel hurt or anything at all so I was just trying to get out of the car and get everyone out. Everyone's okay, I just got some minor cuts and everyone was in shock.
Right after we all got out of the car, we waited in the ambulance (that was the first time for ALL of us) and we went to Dave & Jodi's place (Denis' cousin) in Kamloops. We stayed til we were all warmed up and dealt with all the insurance business and the car business and all that. We left for dinner and decided to continue our trip around 7pm. We drove for another 2,5 hours before we all BEGGED to stop cause it was so dark and scary. We stayed at this tiny motel and the first thing we saw when we got into the lobby was... a shitload of naked men in the sauna...(they're actually in their underwear). And my whole family turned and looked at me... and I was just grinning. Too funny, I thought. We went straight to bed and continue our trip the next morning.
After a million hours (KT: No exaggeration whatsoever) of driving we finally arrived around 9pm on Xmas Eve. Christmas morning was totally awesome. Beside the fact that our bodies were all sore and whatnot, we woke up at 6am and opened our gifts. It was totally awesome. I got the Lost board game and ticket to see Emily Haines (!) among other things :) I got the Amazing Race board game before I left and I got a new MP3 player from Adam (cause my iPod went awol). I'm enjoying the time here and I'm totally having the best Christmas EVER! I'm using the dial up connection so it feels like I'm back to the 20th century but it's totally awesome. We're building an Igloo and we have TEN MILLION Board Games here so it's totally awesome. I love being in a big family like this. I broke the news bout the wedding to the rest of my family and everyone was totally happy :)
Now it's time for me to hit the hay. I probably won't update until I get back from my trip but I thought the accident entry on Christmas day is a must :) In that note... Merry Christmas everyone! Have a good one!
