I was shocked to see how few of my friends didn't post anything about GOF. I mean, I know most of you went to see it, but where are all the posts?
I'm going to assume we're all bogged down with work and all so that explains the shortage of posts.
Before I begin my review of the movie, I just want to note that I LOVED the movie. I saw it twice this past weekend. Midnight showing and then again Friday night. Which would technically be twice in one day. Wow. I am an HP dork. It wasn't everything I hoped, but I have to say that over all, I really enjoyed it. It should've been like a 5 hour long movie with an intermission. I would've sat there, wouldn't you?
NOTE: Spoilers under the cut
Things I didn't like:
-They cut Dobby and Winky *sad*, but I understand why.
-We didn't get to see any of the Quidditch game
-Horrific transitions between scenes.
-What the hell was going on with Dumbledore? Did he have a sudden bout of anxiety or something? UGH! I hated how he was so rattled by everything. Dumbledore is calm, collected and completely in control of everything even when he isn't in control. I was really disappointed in that part.
-I didn't think we should've seen Barty Crouch Jr. at the beginning, just heard his voice. That way it'd be harder to figure out.
-The whole scene with the dragon was so long and then they left out the Sphinx!?!? Why were the first two tasks so much of the movie and then the last one so short?
-Speaking of the last task... why weren't there obstacles? :-/ Seriously, growling shrubs... not that hard to get by apparently.
-Moody's eye. I really didn't expect it to be so... obvious. I thought it'd be a little more normal.
-Lack of Harry angst over Cho
-Some time was wasted on humor that could've gone to the plot.
-Lack of Bill
-What the hell was it with Hermione's melt down? We didn't even know how things led up to it.
Things I absolutely loved
+The humor. The movie is really funny. I was a fan of that, though I think if it'd been less funny, there would've been more time for plot.
+Neville. (enough said)
+any of the Durmstrang boys... wow. yum.
+Pervy Myrtle. Ha. She cracked me up.
+The dragons were just amazing. They were really cool.
+I thought this movie was really closely tied to the book. The plot and all. I was impressed because of what the previous movies left out.
+Cedric was EXACTLY how I pictured him. He couldn't have been better.
+Was it just me or did you really like Cho? That cracks me up because I hate her in the books. She was just so cute. The accent was funny. Asian + Scottish = Cho
+Is Harry's acting getting better? Because it really seems like it is. I was impressed. Good job, Mr. Radcliffe.
+Voldemort was amazing. He just was.
+Draco as a ferret. That was so good. It was how I pictured it.
+Moody was just as creepy as I'd hoped he'd be.
+Cedric's death occurred just like it did in the book. It was abrupt and short. Almost everyone in the theatre was crying. (I wasn't but only because I don't cry during movies.)
+Harry & Cho awkwardness. It was right on the money.
+The Twins. "Wicked." XD
+I know it could've been left out, but the scene with Snape as the study proctor. HA! That was hilarious both times. Unnecessary, but hilarious
+Over all, I liked the special effects. They were pretty good.
+Though the DEs weren't exactly how I expected them to be, they definitely got the job done. And how amazing was the dark mark? It was creepy!
+More proof of the Ron/Hermione ship! The movies make it so obvious.
+Filch was hilarious. Creepy bastard that he is.
I just really like this movie. There were so many good things about it to counteract the disappointing parts. I <3 this movie.
