It was the colour that first grasped Bill’s attention.

Soft, subdued...green.

He had been hoping to find something spun from the same, sensual crimson that had once adorned her body during a time, long ago, when he had been able to bask in the simple pleasure of laying with her under the stars. As he leaned forward, Bill conceded that the striking shade of the material made his heart more wistful than her red dress ever had.

Laura

It was Laura who entered Bill Adama’s mind as he let the slippery silk flow through his calloused hands; for the green of her eyes was far more memorable than the superficial red of her dress. Those two, perfect, jewels led to the soul which lay claim to his heart.

Bill frowned as he further inspected the material. Would she like it? Would she prefer something warmer? Would it be soft enough for her delicate scalp?

“Would you like me to show you how to tie it?" The merchant’s voice broke through his musings.

“Please.” Bill memorized the intricate knots that she wove with the fabric. His eyes catalogued exactly how to fold the sides of the cloth as not to agitate Laura’s ears. After each style had been presented to his eager eyes, Bill copied it, with military precision and shaking hands.

“It matches the President’s eyes perfectly.” The young woman offered him a knowing smile.

“No.” His frown furrowed deeper in his brow. How could the green of this scarf ever hope to measure up to the beauty of Laura Roslin’s eyes? How could it ever shine brighter than the laughter that they contained? How could it ever make his knees weak, the way they did when they sparkled with happiness?

“Not quite. But it will look nice with them.”
