“Madam President,” Lee stutters as the hatch to his father’s quarters opens to reveal Laura Roslin, clad in his father’s robe and a green kerchief.
“Lee,” she greets him warmly. “Please, come in.”
Lee stumbles awkwardly inside, unsure of himself, of where he belongs in this new world that they have created inside of these walls.
“Your father is just finishing up in the head,” she supplies for him when she notices that he is looking around the room desperately.
“Lee,” his father’s distinct rumble grabs his attention. He emerges from the head dressed in his sleepwear with an overjoyed smile on his face. “Can I get you a drink?” his father asks, motioning to the cart.
“No thanks, I just came by…” to check up on you. To make sure that you’re okay. Has it really only been days since I had to scoop you off of the floor of these very quarters?
“It’s good to see you, why don’t you make yourself comfortable?” He settles himself next to his woman, and unashamedly grasps her hand in his own.
“I can’t stay long, besides, it looks like you two were about to settle in for the night,” Lee says awkwardly.
Laura’s eyes twinkle impishly; his father can’t stop the goofy grin that breaks out across his face. Suddenly Lee is mortified.
Oh, oh. That sort of settling in.
Laura’s entire frame shakes with the effort not to laugh, but it’s useless and soon all three of them are laughing.
“Okay, okay, I’m taking the hint,” Lee stands, “I’ll just go now…” Lee accepts an embrace from them both as they stand to see him out. He notices that his father doesn’t take his hands off of her, nor she him.
I can’t live without her.
Lee finally understands why.
