I really like this interpretation of Laura's strike in the courtroom. I don't think I've ever really considered how her pushing Lee to make her reveal the cancer was a blow to everyone. The cancer didn't just affect her and Bill, it very much played into the overall loss of hope we see growing throughout the fleet. She ripped everyone apart.

And Bill's shame. Heartbreaking but true. He's disappointed in them both. And of course a little in himself as well for not being able to do anything to stop it.

This is just a marvelous piece of writing!! I can see this scene unfolding and all the emotions from each character. It is so perfect from Bill's POV. Great choice!! I love how you captured the end with Laura's final words. She did indeed hit them all with those final remarks. Right to the heart of poor Bill!! Excellent work!!
