I love Thespians. I'm really sad that was my last conference. Some highlights:
Thursday we saw Bye Bye Birdie, done by Marquette HS. It was really really good. Especially the girls who played Mae and Rose. Everyone was awesome, but those two were incredible. Really fucking huge cast though.
Thursday night/Friday morning it's about 1, and I get a call from Sarah. This was confusing, because first of all, it's one in the morning, and second of all, Sarah's not even at conference. Well, apparently someone called her asking for the number for Domino's. I find this extremely funny, although I really would like to know who it could have possibly been. This all has to do with stuff that happened at conference last year.
Friday we had like a 3 hour break, which was really annoying. But being Thespians, we found ways of entertaining ourselves. Like playing the pony game. According to Fiona, when she played it at girl scout camp it was just an innocent game for 10 year olds. But when Thespians play it, it's more like forplay. I thought that was funny. Then I had my scholarship audition, which only two people get, so I didn't audition for that so much as for the experience and the colleges. I got 2 callbacks, which made me extremely happy. Yay! I don't suck! And then at the dance Jack got up on the window ledge and started dancing, someone comes over and tells him to get down, then they make an announcement to stay off the windows. It was funny.
Today at lunch a was playing red rover with a huge group of people. Mandy comes looking for me, because apparently some girl was standing on a chair and singing in the cafeteria, which made her want to show off too. So we stood up on chairs in the cafeteria and sang Wicked (which I now know sucks to sing a-capella) and Rent. It was awesome. We were gonna do our Buenos Aires dance from show choir, but we couldn't get Lucas to stop playing red rover.
And the hotel was fun, what with random people constantly coming in and out of our room or calling. One time they made me answer with, "Serendipity, what's the scoop?" ...yeah.
Tomorrow is a sad, sad day. It's Idina Menzel's last day in Wicked. The good thing she's going to San Francisco to start filming Rent... but still. It's funny though, I'll be seeing Rent while she is performing in Wicked for the last time. I'm wearing my Wicked shirt. And neclace. And bringing my monkey. I'm a loser, leave me alone.
Oh, I wanna take a poll. Leave comments saying either yes or no to this question:
Do you know me as a quiet person?
Cause some people do, some don't. It's kind of odd. Actually... really people who know me through Marian see me as quiet, and through Thespians see me as not. I told Lucas one time that Graham referred to me as a quiet person, and he says, "You?! Quiet?!"
Oh! I got into Arsenic!! I'm Witherspoon, the Happydale doctor, and considering there are only 3 girl leads, I think that's not so bad. According to Ben, it's the next biggest girl's part. I'm really sad that means I won't be doing Sound of Music though... Mandy and Lucas are still doing it without me... I think I may have been able to get a bigger part at Shrewsbury, and probably would have had more fun because of Mandy and Lucas, but I kind of need the variety of the school play, and I've been wanting to be in the school plays since forever. It will still be fun. Besides, there's Fiddler this summer, and Greg's directing it, and Mandy and Lucas will still do that, and possibly Mrs. Zollerowski (since it's all ages), which is just awesome.
And Sarah, having a smaller part in Arsenic means I won't have that many rehearsals till closer to the show, so if you're doing tech, I definitely wanna help build sets and stuff. Let me know.
Anyway. YAY! RENT TOMORROW!!
I don't even want to think about the enormous amount of homework I have to do tomorrow until after the show.
