[The dreamberry is pointed down at the floor as a voice can be heard talking - ]

These walls are horribly drab and the flooring doesn't match them at all. I've tried my best to live with it but something has to be done. [As the person continues talking, the dreamberry is swung a bit in an arc, though still pointed down towards the floor. It's ( Read more... )

[Guess who just got there? Walls are the least of her worries.]

You there! Where am I and where can I find the closest Pokecenter?

[It was a bit startling to hear someone addressing him when he wasn't expecting it but he quickly regained his composure.]

I would if I could, however I'm not even too sure what a pokecenter is.

[... Ugh... No PokeCenter? She's not that happy right now.]

Where are we?

[Though, he can say he's a bit curious as to what one of those things are now. He'd have to inquire again in a little bit.]

Ah. You must be new here. Welcome to Somarium. It's a quaint little place that is rather uniquely it's own.

[Feel free to ask later when she's not so ticked off.]

Somarium...? What to you mean by 'unique'?

[He figures that's probably the best idea since there's other things to discuss at the moment.]

Somarium's actually a dream world, if you will. On top of that, it has some ways of it's own. You never really know what'll happen around here, be it being able to walk into someone else's dream or find yourself in new clothes that aren't your own. If you can think it, there's a very good chance it could potentially happen.

Thankfully, though, it's not always crazy. A lot of the time it's just normal living.

[I think they've all gotten sick of explaining the mechanics of Somarium.]

...

[Don't mind her. You just lost her at the dream world thing.]

So this is a dream world huh...? I don't feel like I'm dreaming or anything.

[That's her way of saying you're incompetent and she doesn't believe you. She will eventually though.]

[...he's always up for finding new and inventive ways of explaining things. Which may or may not be a good thing, unfortunately.]

That's the beauty of it. Then again, some of us are more familiar with dreams and the mechanics of dreaming than others. It's a bit much to try and believe otherwise.

[At least it doesn't get old to him.]

What do you mean by that?

[That did spark an interest in her about the dream comments.]

[It would be a shame if he let things become too stale.]

Have you ever had a dream that felt so real that you could have swore you were awake until that moment you actually did wake up? Within that time you were dreaming, it was your reality and you didn't feel as if you were dreaming, did you?

... I guess so. What does that have to do with this though?

[Actually, that was probably just a stupid question. Giselle is a very smart girl, so she already put 2 + 2 together. Still, it seemed like the kind of question you ask without thinking.]

The line between reality and dream is blurred. What one thinks is reality can seem like a dream and vice versa. The mind can be tricked if one is skilled enough at it. If you dream long enough, it can become your life.

And this refers to this so called, 'dream world'?

Reply

defyantigravity December 4 2011, 12:26:23 UTC
Yes. Some people have been here for nearly two years. This world... is their reality in a sense. Even in a dream world, one still exists - they eat and sleep and dream. The interactions they have are as real as they want them to be.

Unlike conventional dreaming, however, going home is not as easy as simply 'waking up.' You can pinch yourself all you want. It won't work.

...

[That doesn't make things any better for her.]

And how do we 'wake up'? I need to get back to Pokemon Tech. and improve. I promised Joe that I would become a suitable opponent for him and I don't intend on letting this dream world stop me.

[He felt that telling the truth about it was better than ignoring it. Then again, he probably also could have not mentioned it at all.]

Nobody really knows. It just sort of happens. Sometimes people come and go. On the bright side, it's a dream world, thus time doesn't correlate directly. It's like how in dreams years can seem to go by but it turns out you were only asleep for a couple of hours.
