Nobody bothered to inform Kaylee that her life was worth saving.
As such, she's currently in the Milliways infirmary doing her best to remove her IV. It is a shame she is disoriented with her fine motor skills much-diminished by pain medication.

It's a good thing she's weakened, both by the pain medication and by her considerable injuries, or he'd have a hard time pulling her hand away from the IV port.
"Kaylee," he's saying, "Kaylee, stop, it's okay, you're okay --"

That's what she tries to say. Unfortunately, it comes out as something slurred and unintelligible.

"You need to rest," he says very firmly.

And reaches for the IV port agaain.

"You've been badly injured, you're on a lot of pain medication, and you're not thinking clearly."

Her hand tightens weakly in his; she tries to pull away.

"All right," he says quietly. "Hold still."

She stares at the ceiling.
