Nobody bothered to inform Kaylee that her life was worth saving.

As such, she's currently in the Milliways infirmary doing her best to remove her IV. It is a shame she is disoriented with her fine motor skills much-diminished by pain medication.

The alarm's brought the doctor running.

It's a good thing she's weakened, both by the pain medication and by her considerable injuries, or he'd have a hard time pulling her hand away from the IV port.

"Kaylee," he's saying, "Kaylee, stop, it's okay, you're okay --"

"Let go or I'll kill you."

That's what she tries to say. Unfortunately, it comes out as something slurred and unintelligible.

He understands that let go is in there somewhere.

"You're all right. You're safe. Kaylee. Kaylee, look at me."

[gonna_live]

There are tears of rage in her eyes.

(She hasn't been entirely helpless for so long -- )

[simon_doctor]

"Do you know where you are?"

Very gently.

[gonna_live]

"Not. Dead."

Her job's done, it was going to be fine --

[simon_doctor]

"No," he says quickly. Reassuringly. "You're not dead. You're at Milliways, in the infirmary."

[gonna_live]

Moron.

"Want. To be dead."

[simon_doctor]

He's silent.

How do you feel? doesn't seem like a useful question to be asking, all of a sudden.

[gonna_live]

"Turn -- me in. The feds."

Because that'll be just as quick a way.

[simon_doctor]

"You need to rest," he says very firmly.

[gonna_live]

Kaylee shakes her head. Emphatically.

And reaches for the IV port agaain.

[simon_doctor]

Simon grabs her hand again.

"You've been badly injured, you're on a lot of pain medication, and you're not thinking clearly."

[gonna_live]

"Knock. Me out."

Her hand tightens weakly in his; she tries to pull away.

[simon_doctor]

It's what he was about to do anyway.

"All right," he says quietly. "Hold still."

[gonna_live]

It's not like she can move, now, is it.

She stares at the ceiling.
