The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini

Jan 22, 2008 22:52

Tuesday evening, January 22, 2008. It is 10:53 and I just finished reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Seriously powerful novel. I absolutely loved it. I cried and it ripped me apart emotionally as Angela said it would, but I loved every minute of it. I started finding myself reading it slower in order to absorb more of the story and the characters and the settings. (Yes, even war-torn Afghanistan.)

Must see the movie now.

I highly recommend this novel. Khaled Hosseini's prose is wonderful and I just melted into it brilliantly. At the beginning of the novel, I kept thinking (every time I picked it up), 'Oh, I really need to read this, I've been wanting to for so long, and I've had it for almost a year' with very little motivation to read the book. But, then a few sentences later and I was totally sucked in again. About 50 pages in, I was in love. I just needed to keep reading it.

So glad I read it. Must read his second novel 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'. Must buy this week (note to self). Don't know what's next, cause I'm about to go a-wandering through the books on my night table.
