a couple unrelated thoughts

1.) I am SO grateful for my housemates. I'm getting to the point in the season where nearly everyone is driving me CRAZY, but I always feel like I have a sanctuary in my housemates. I'm pretty much over any minor annoyances or irritations in the house, and I really feel like I've gotten to know and trust some great people. I barely knew some of them before we lived together, so it's awesome that we feel like a little family now. I would go absolutely crazy without them!

2.) Working with Dennis has gone really really well, and I'm so glad I got up the nerve to ask him for a lesson! It has made me more confident in my development, and he's given me some solid technical help. It's just nice to have a set of (trustworthy) ears to listen to me and give me good, helpful feedback! I'm going to learn some new rep (trying out some English arias) and have another lesson asap. :-)

3.) I am getting VERY nervous about moving. It's coming up SOOOOO soon (31 days, to be exact) and I still have a LOT to figure out. Of course, it's not just all of the moving details, but also making sure all of my financial stuff is in order for school and getting apartment details hammered out.

This morning was my last morning rehearsal for the season, and tomorrow night's dress rehearsal is the final rehearsal of the season. Period. WOO HOO!!! I can't believe July is almost over. There is just SO much to do, and I'm really afraid I can't handle it. Even relatively straightforward things are becoming complicated. For example, I have to pay my first month's rent by Aug 1. I'm living with 2 other people, and we're all scattered around the country right now, so I called and asked if we could send separate checks this month. The apt people said yes, BUT the rent had to be paid via certified check or money order. At first I thought I would have a problem because I'm nowhere near my bank, but then I researched and found out I could get one at a variety of places. What a relief, right? Wrong! Evidently you can only get a money order with cash, and I definitely do not have $650 in cash here! I can't exactly go to the grocery store and ask for $650 in cash back!!! Now I have about a week to figure it out and get the rent paid. I think I might just call them and ask if I can send a personal check this month. If they say no, I'll have to send a check to one of my roommates and she can get a money order for the full amount. Or something. I really don't know! Ahhhhh!!!

They are also requiring us to have the lease signed by all 3 of us by Aug 1.. which they didn't tell us until one of the girls asked about signing the lease a couple days ago. Now she has to sign it and send it to me, and I have to send it to the 3rd girl. The best part is that one of the pages requires a notary, and the nearest one to me here (that I could find online) is 3 miles. So I have to find someone to drive me to the freaking notary and then I have to overnight the lease to the next girl. And we have to accomplish all this (mailing the lease a total of 4 times) in 10 days!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Add to these issues the fact that I need to accept a certain amount of loan money, but I can't make a complete budget without more info about our utilities. I have no idea how much they will really be, especially for things like cable (which my roommates don't seem to want but I might go nuts without) and internet (which I put myself in charge of when one of the girls told me she didn't want DSL, just WiFi. She didn't seem to understand that you can't have this mysterious "wifi" without an actual internet connection such as DSL. That was a fun conversation.) Plus I need to figure out furniture (where am I going to SLEEP), and the actual moving vehicle, and and and and and. It never ends!

Ok, I'm done. Now that I've laid out most of the major things I have to accomplish in the next week, it doesn't seem so awful. Still, it's a lot. (Oh, and I have to make an appt for an eye exam because my vision has been weird since maybe November, and I'll finally be out of contacts by the time I get home. And then I need to come up with the money for the contacts and probably for new glasses lenses. Great.)

I'll just be curled up in a ball of tension somewhere for the next couple weeks.
