California Roll

WHAT? your first sushi? but... but... you're Japanese! You should be ashamed! LOL!!!!

i KNOW. shhhhh. i never had to make it... between my mom's cooking, restaurants and takeout...

When I got a sudden craving for california roll last week, I decided to make it at home for the first time ever. This is a big deal to me as I never thought I had it in me to do it. Determined,
I immediately got my shopping list together and headed out to my favourite Asian grocery, T&T Supermarket.

Back at home the sushi-making begins:

sushi rice / sesame seeds / avocado / cucumber / imitation crab / sushi mat / nori (seaweed) sheets / spectator

Thin layer of sushi rice with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Turn over and place crab, avocado and cucumber in the centre of roll.

Rolled and ready to cut. Definitely the trickiest step. The first roll wasn't pretty but after doing a couple I got the hang of it.

I think I did a decent job but I need to make the cucumber and avocado portions larger to balance out the crab.
